Best way to remove from a vehicle?

Take monofilament fishing line and use it as a saw behind the emblem. Saw back and forth to cut through the foam automotive tape. Then use Goo Gone to remove residual tape.

It is definitely not 4-5 inches as stated. It is 2 1/2- 3 inches. That is a big difference.

Moving to new car - adhesive?

Yes it has a strong adhesive. When I traded my pervious car in, the emblem went with it. I believe it would mess up the paint to try to remove it.
