Stainless Steel Colander, Professional Kitchen Strainer/Washing Bowl for Vegetables/Fruit/Rice/Grains, Perforated Side Drainer

If You have an ingredient that you need to drain then set aside, then this is the perfect bowl!!!! I love olives and capers and cocktail onions from a jar and add them toward the end when I am cooking this worked great to drain and then set aside on a towel or leave it in my sink. it was so easy to work with I got it really because it looked like a Japanese rice drainer but stainless steal. I am sure it will work good for grains ( i love qinoua too) I am excited and very happy!! ;)

We love this colander! It is not too big and not too small - just the perfect size for a 1-2lb bag of pasta. The design is such that it lies a bit on its side so the water automatically is forced out. Another benefit is that it is really easy to clean. This would be really good for washing/cleaning vegetables, as well, but we've just only used it for pasta. Very versatile kitchen product. Happy with the purchase.

When I first saw this It was love at first sight. It works great. However by the second time I used it to drain pasta I noticed small pits and hairline cracks developing in the bottom. I contacted Papaya Bay about this but never received any answer. Perhaps I shouldn't have used it for a hot item, but it is a steel colander after all. The holes are small enough to work well when washing rice or lentils so I'm very happy with the function of it. It is stainless so it shouldn't rust, but I don't feel confident of that.

The colander is very nice quality I will probably have it for many years. Washed my first batch of rice and was very please with the results did not lose one grain of rice and it made the process of washing the rice so quick and easy. Every kitchen should have a colander like this one.

Design appears good for washing rice but I've not used it so this is speculation. I'm returning without using due to very poor quality metal with black discoloration all over. I highly doubt this is stainless steel, or at least not of the grade we are used to when shopping at kitchen stores. Photos attached but it was difficult to fully capture the black areas due to the reflective silver surfaces. Note the black dots next to many of the drain holes. And the black areas all around the rim. And the black areas all over the bottom. And this is when brand new! What will it look like after a few months of use? I recommend to buy elsewhere until this seller fixes their issue and proves the product is actually stainless steel and not some low grade counterfeit. I sent the following email directly to the seller, "Papaya Bay", and will post any useful response I receive: "Hello. I just received a Papaya Bay rice washing bowl. The design appears to be good, although I've not tested it. But the metal quality is terrible. I do not believe this is stainless steel, or at least certainly not nearly the quality of any other stainless steel item I own. The metal has black discolored areas all over it that do not come off with washing or scrubbing. It appears to already be corroding? Also it has scratches. I plan to post the photos and a negative review on Amazon. I advise you research the true metal composition of your product. Fix it such that its similar to nice real stainless steel products made of 18/10, 18/8, etc. If your manufacturer in China is telling you this is what they use, I think they are not telling the truth. Order your own product and look at what you receive. Have the metal independently tested. Fix the issue so your products look like proper stainless steel products that fill the shelves from reputable kitchen equipment companies. None of which ever look like what I received here because nobody would ever buy a new product at the store that looks like this. Make good products and then charge what you need to charge to make a fair profit. Don't make garbage or try to make an unreasonable profit by cutting quality. That's my free advice to you after being inconvenienced by receiving this poor quality product and having to return it. Waste of time and resources."

BE AWARE... this product is great when doing what it is intended to do, HOWEVER it will rust under the "rim" or "lip" if left to air dry. I kept mine only because I didn't want to return it just to have the same problem when I reordered again. So I live with it and dry it by hand... "old school".

This is by far the best colander I have purchased and I have purchased many! I had initially bought this to wash rice and now use it for everything. I love that it can be slanted to the side and it stays perfectly balanced while all the water drips out. My mom saw it and the instant she saw it she wanted one for herself. It is sturdy and should last a long time.

It took me some time to convince myself that a side straining colander was worth the shelf space until I ran across this one. I bought it for washing rice which it excels at, but quickly realized it would be useful for many wash and drain tasks in my kitchen. The finish is good, the S-steel is a decent mid-weight compromise between strength and weight. I also thought that the proportions and the tilt bottom work well together to give an ample amount of washing space that drains with little effort. Overall, spot on piece.
