This helps keep me from getting sick in the winter. While others are going around with flu and other sicknesses, I take one dose a day of this and haven't been sick at all. I like the taste and thick syrupy texture of this product. I also like the Nature's Way brand. Definitely a staple in my wellness routine.

I have this product on Subscribe and Save auto-delivery and I use it regularly for myself, my husband, and our toddler son. I use it along with Herbs for Kids Echinacea & Astragalus, and I find the combination to be very effective in reducing the length and severity of illnesses. I began using this product on my son when he was around a year old. Since he was six months old, he suffered from acute asthma-like symptoms when he would get sick. He was on several different nebulized and oral medications during these periods of time. Between illnesses, he had no asthma-like symptoms and was completely healthy. Since he was in daycare, there was no escaping frequent respiratory illnesses. It got to the point that whenever he would develop even a slight runny nose (due to teething, etc), it would eventually settle into his chest and turn into a wheezing episode. He and I both hated the nebulizer. I looked for products that could help me proactively address this issue and I found Sambucus through Amazon. There were too many positive reviews for me not to try it. I did not buy the children's version, but this adult version. I started giving my son one 5 mL dose every day as a preventative treatment. When he got the sniffles or showed any other signs of something developing, I started an acute dose of 5 mL twice to three times a day. I also give him (daily) 1 mL of the Echinacea + Astragalus at least twice a day. I put the Echinacea in his milk (it tastes like a mild sweet tea). He will drink the Sambucus right out of a dropper; however, it is dark, dark purple and will stain faces and clothes (think tastes and looks like grape juice). So, I mix it into a serving of plain, unsweetened yogurt. He gobbles it up. I've even mixed it into a little apple juice and water and let him take it via his sippy cup. Since I started using this product, we have been more successful at nipping respiratory infections before they settle in his chest. There would be times when he had runny nose, even coughing, but no wheeze. When he came down with HFMD, I thought I heard the tiniest wheeze in his chest, but it went away quickly. He did not get ulcers in his mouth. I missed a week of work while he ran around the house and played, feeling absolutely fine. I've used both of these products on myself and my husband as well, and we find the same benefits when we take them: viral illness severity and length is reduced. When my husband and I take the Sambucus, we use a bulb dropper and take it directly, without mixing it in drink or food. I'm not sure if one product works more than the other, but I will continue to give the Sambucus and Echinacea + Astragalus in tandem to my family. There haven’t been as many syringes in my sink for a long time, and I am so grateful for that.

Whenever I feel a scratchy throat or the first signs of a cold, I take this for a few days and it really helps kick it before it gets worse. It’s highly concentrated and the berry flavor is actually quite pleasant. Giving it 4 stars only because the syrup is a bit thin and can get sticky around the cap, but the results are definitely there!
