Good for basic computer functions
I ordered this specifically to take the bar exam. If you're looking for a basic computer to do basic functions, this is a good choice. I've also used it to do basic internet surfing and although it is slow compared to more expensive models, it's is good enough. I have not uploaded pictures or music, attempted to stream any videos, or anything of that nature so I'm not sure how it would handle that.

Great little Laptop
This is a great little laptop. I have always owned a desktop but my youngest son talked me into looking into a laptop when my desktop crashed. He picked this one out for me and I ordered it off Amazon and I am just loving it! It does everything I need it to do and is just a really nice laptop for the money. Highly recommend.

The only reasons I give it four stars is the battery life is pretty awful and the touch pad is not great
This is a solid laptop for the price. Having the large screen and a number pad is not something I was looking for but having them now really makes me appreciate them. The only reasons I give it four stars is the battery life is pretty awful and the touch pad is not great. It seems to cut in and out or requires aggressive taps to make it respond. I really wish it had illuminated keys or the little spotlight like old IBM's used to have. This is more of a personal thing I guess since it's not HP's fault that I work in the dark. I use this computer for schoolwork exclusively so I have no idea how it handles applications requiring a lot of processor capability. The first thing I did when I received it was delete any and all McAfee garbage as it was slowing the computer to a crawl. If you're looking for an affordable laptop to do basic tasks, this is the one.

Works fine for my needs.
I am pretty sure I need to replace the blacklight under my screen. The screen was really dim and no longer comes on. We attached the laptop to an external screen and looks to work just fine. It also has a problem powering on sometimes but I got a external mouse and just giving that a small shake gets it to turn on no problem. Really like the computer so far, besides those 2 hiccups. Hoping to get the blacklight fixed here soon. If anything changes I'll update my review.

Not a real quad-core and severely lacking MS updates in the setup. Slow as hell.
Not impressed. This is not a fast machine and not a true quad-core. It has 2 cores with 3 software emulation cores. It has enough to make it a decent general purpose machine, however it needs at least 12-14 hours of idle time, connected to a network, to update all of the Win10 software required to run without at least a 50% CPU drain while trying to use it. Very bad initial customer experience. Not recommended by me, anyway.

This computer is not a straight shooter
I bought this laptop for my grandma back in July. Her computer was lagging, seven years old, and it was just time for something new. I thought this would be a great fit for her. It seemed to have enough positive feedback, anyway. Well, now after two months the dang thing is falling apart, and the warranty was only for a month! I am pretty distraught. I'm not rich by any means. Buying this computer meant a lot of extra work that month on my part, just to be able to cover bills and purchase this. What a waste. The thing was never particularly fast, which I didn't really anticipate it would be. We could deal with that, but then it performed some kind of update yesterday and it suddenly didn't have an WI-FI adapter. So it wouldn't connect to the internet. I did everything I could, along with my roommate, and we're not 100% sure what we did, but it finally is connecting to wi-fi again after a reboot. (We rebooted this thing, troubleshooted, etc. None of that worked on the 17th. But something on the 18th changed. I don't know) Now it's popping up errors, and rebooting on her. The reboot takes longer than it should. I'm currently waiting for it boot back up. It's been just around twenty minutes. I've also noticed other people complaining about these exact issues. So PLEASE PLEASE. Before you buy this computer, consider the fact that: 1. The warranty is only for 1 month 2. A bunch of people are having this issue. If I had reviewed this product as soon as we got it, I would have given it five stars, but I'm glad I waited. Obviously, this thing is not worth the money, and I can now say that with confidence.

Before I decided to purchase this item I done some research on amazon and like any other reviews there's pros and cons
Since my Gateway Computer had expired I wanted to buy an reasonable computer without breaking the bank. Before I decided to purchase this item I done some research on amazon and like any other reviews there's pros and cons. When I received my HP laptop the delivery process was very fast. So far I'm a satisfied customer, The screen is 15.6 inches so I can surf the net, watch movies or watch youtube or play my games.. The keyboard is very soft and it doesn't feel stiff. It also has a number pad in which sometimes i use as a calculator. The mouse pad feels like comet cleaner but I got used to it lol. I think HP has stepped up their game because it was one of the cheapest quality computers that I used to see on QVC. Now that I made the purchase I'm very happy with this product .

Pretty good for the price, runs a bit slow.
I was really excited to get my new HP laptop, since it had been about 10 years and my old ASUS was ready to kick the bucket. Well, when it came, I plugged it in, and before I even started setting up I had problems. Not sure what exactly it was but it was almost like it crashed?? (Not happy). I restarted, then it started the set up again. Once I got it set up, it ran very slow. Almost as slow as my old ASUS. So I did a little research online and tweaked some settings, shut off some notifications, etc (sorry, im not a techie so I dont remember what I did now) and it ran faster. Changing some settings on my anti virus also made it run a bit faster as well. It now runs pretty decent. I was expecting so much more for a brand new laptop, but I guess for just under $300 its pretty good. I use this daily for personal and work with no problems. Before I even got mine delivered, a friend of mine was looking for a laptop as well so I told him what I was getting and he purchased the same one, had the same problems. Had to take it back and get a new one. So, thats my experience.

Super-thin. Lightweight. Great display resolution. 4 gb ram is lots for my purpose. Not fussy on Windows 10 but may get used to it at some point. Meanwhile have partitioned the HDD and installed Linux Mint alongside the Windows 10 installation. Both OS's work well on this machine.

I'm not a heavy computer user, and yet this computer is far too slow for what I am using it for.

It really does all that I need it to do. For $377 what more can you ask for?

works well enough. not sure if its windows fault or the hardware, but it is slow to power up, slow to log into user account, and power settings don't have any affect on whether or not the screen stays on or if/when it goes to sleep. kindof annoying having to turn my computer on every 15 minutes even when its plugged in and it is set to "never sleep" or shut down...... otherwise it is what youd expect from a laptop. keyboard is not backlit, so if you are in an unlit location, you can't see the keys.
