Good Clean, Does the Job Well (UK Plug Would Be Nice)
I bought the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 Electric Toothbrush after reading lots of reviews, and I have to say my experience has been pretty positive. First impressions were good. It feels well made and isn’t overly complicated to use. After using it for a while, it definitely feels like it cleans my teeth properly, my mouth feels fresher and cleaner compared to a manual toothbrush, and the sonic action is noticeable without being uncomfortable. Battery life is fine rather than amazing. It lasts long enough for normal use, but you do need to keep an eye on it and remember to charge it. As long as you don’t forget, it’s not really a problem and fits easily into a routine. My only real complaint is that it doesn’t come with a proper UK plug in the box. It’s not a big issue, I already had a USB adapter, but at this price point it would have been nice if Philips included one. Overall though, I’m happy with it. It cleans well, is easy to use, and does what it’s meant to do. Despite the plug issue, I’d still recommend it if you’re looking for a solid, no-nonsense electric toothbrush. Pros • Feels like it cleans teeth thoroughly • Comfortable to use • Simple and effective Cons • Battery life is just okay • No UK plug included Still a good buy and one I’d recommend.

Great for falsies.......
Great for falsies.... Sonic seems to work better on false teeth than a brushing head. Great little maching

So far so good.
Been using this 2 months now and it's great. It only needs charging roughly every 6 weeks depending on use. It takes some getting used to the feeling after coming from an oral b, but it makes my teeth feel cleaner for sure. On the negative side, the case is trash. As other people say, it doesn't close and stay closed. It's the cheapest, flimsiest case which I honestly expected better when I'm paying £70 for a toothbrush. The case is a joke. Also the brushing timer built in to the brush is WAY TOO SHORT. Who brushes their teeth for only 2 minutes?! I can't think of a single reason they would make the timer 2 minutes! I have to use 2 timers each time to get enough brushing

Perfect no frills electric toothbrush
This is probably my 4th Philips Sonicare toothbrush. My old one suddenly stopped working and after a little research, plus an Amazon gift voucher - I decided on this one. I'm so glad I didn't get a different one. There's one button, which I love. No extra button for whitening teeth. No extra button for different pulses. I just want to clean my teeth and go. The brush itself comes with a head, plus a travel case. I recently travelled and used the case. You pull off the head, and lay both handle and head in the box. It's very secure, clean , and ensures I don't accidentally turn on the handle while in my case. I also LOVE these heads. My previous Healthy White models have had white heads with larger surface areas which have curved bristles. These are smaller and more straight, meaning I can get to all areas of my mouth easily. The handle also senses the head and informs you when it's been 3 months, so you can change to a new head. The orange light and vibrations can't be missed. It looks good and on a single charge it lasts me around 2 weeks. It's simple and easy to use if you just want clean teeth! It charges overnight (I'd say maybe 6 hours though I haven't timed it) but it's worth pointing out that it has a 2 pin plug so you'll need an adapter if you don't have those shaver ports in your bathroom.

Great toothbrush.
Great toothbrush. The wife much prefers it over her old Oral-B electric tooth brush. It's much quieter and seems to be more effective. The battery life is pretty good.

Sonicare was good but the Philips versions are not worth buying
[Update again] So we bought two of these again (had several). One in June 2022 and the other in May 2023. It’s Jan 24 and I’ve just sent back the newest one for replacement and as soon as we get that back, the older one is being returned. Same faults again and again on these. Two more failed just outside warranty. Philips seem to have no interest in addressing the design flaw. I can only think that at the price they charge, they can roll the dice that some will limp through to the end of the warranty and that many people will not think to claim on the warranty. A sad way to behave as a company which previously had a proud engineering heritage. Although they will exchange for this fault, this is by no means hassle free. You have to send back the handle to a UK address, but replacement is shipped from Poland. In my case UPS were a disaster zone with a lot of extra hassle. Philips send updates from a noreply email address rather than ensuring that everything is done to make this a smooth process. [Update to add that I managed to repair one of ours, but the repair didn't last long. There are a few How Tos and videos on the ‘Net. The hardest part is usually opening the handle, but that’s not too difficult once you know how. The problem is usually then just a loose screw. If you’re unlucky it could be a broken part, but replacements are available. The screw holds the tip on. Philips have used threadlock, but it seems this is not up to the job of holding it tight against the vibrations. I retightened with new threadlock. A quick job in the end, so well worth trying. So much for Philips greenwashing. They don’t make fixing these out of warranty easy or cost-effective when a) it’s their design flaw and b) it’s a criminal waste to pollute with a whole handle because of a loose screw.] Original review We've had Sonicare since before Philips bought them. In fact our original Sonicare handle is still going strong, but we bought one of the Philips ones as heads were getting harder to buy a while back. Oh dear. We've now got through several of the Philips ones of different models. They ruined it when they redesigned how the brush head attachs to the handle and because there is a moving part now in the handle. The original ones had no moving parts in the handle. They always fail here (just read plenty of reviews all talking about frequent failures). The shaft on to which the head attaches just eventually falls out. Not surprising considering it's vibrating at high speed and gets pulled and pushed as the head is attached and removed. As a mechanical engineer myself, it's obvious that the original Sonicare design was far superior. All this in addition to brushing performance which is far less consistent (because the vibration from the handle is not effectively transferred to the head as the thing wears). Oh - and heads which just vibrate loose and fall off. Philips have them made cheaply and then send out exchanges when they inevitably break down. I had one fail just outside of warranty. After a bit of arguing, Philips kindly agreed to replace. The replacement lasted only 3 months. They replaced that and that has died a year later. Philips will either ask you to send the old one in for repair and then replace or ask you to dispose of in an environmentally friendly way. That's nonsense. There is nothing environmentally friendly about producing a product which fails so frequently (there's no realistic way these are being recycled) and replaces the original Sonicare product which would last and last. Doesn't matter if you're buying the cheapest Philips Sonicare and the stupidly expensive more-money-than-sense ones with unneeded bells and whistles. They all have the same flaw. Despite having been sold on the benefits for our teeth and gums of Sonicare years ago, we're not buying again and will try alternatives.

Very good cleaning but fails far too quickly.
After using Braun Oral-b for many years, I decided to give Philips a try. I do prefer the Philips, it cleans very well and the battery lasts much long than the Braun. This would be a five star review if the toothbrush base units don't fail so quickly. The pin that joins to the toothbrush head becomes loose and eventually stops working. Mine broke after 16 months. Fortunately, the unit has a two year warranty, so was replaced. However, the replacement had the same issue and failed after just 9 months. From reading other reviews, this appears to be a common problem and is clearly a design fault.
