Nice connector!
I got this to make an extension cord for my welder and it works great! It is easy to install on the end of the cord and has a nice handle to easily unhook the cord from the wall socket or from the end of the other cord! It also makes it easier to unplug the cord from the welder to this connector because it has the finger holds on the backside!

What the heck were they thinking? This thing is garbage!
I bought this socket to build a drop cable for plugging in a welder and plasma cutter. It seems like a nice design, with the finger pulls and all. Unfortunately, it's not a 250V 50A receptacle even though it claims to be (and is marked as such) - nowhere near. After opening it to connect it, and seeing what's inside, I immediately closed it back up. It's going to get returned. 1. This is for 50 AMPS dude! But the contacts are flimsy, measuring .032" thick. For comparison I measured a Leviton 30 amp socket I have on hand, its contacts measure .042" thick - doesn't sound like much but the difference is huge - much springier, much more contact pressure than this thing - and the Leviton is only rated 30 amps, not 50. Plus the fact that the Leviton contacts are tin plated - the BISupply contacts are plain brass (or brass-like material). 2. The clamping screws on the Leviton are almost twice as large as the BISupply. See photo. It's unlikely that the BISupply clamping screws would survive the necessary torque without stripping or breaking. 3. 50 amps means 6 gauge wire. See the photo of a piece of this wire not fitting under the clamp screw on the BISupply contact. Can you figure out how to securely clamp this wire? If you squeeze the wire, or separate the strands into two bunches, you could force it in but look at that pitiful clamp plate and screw. 50 amp contacts generally require 25 inch pounds of tightening torque. These screws and clamp plates would likely not survive being tightened that much, without stripping out or breaking. Everything about the Leviton shouts "beefy". The BISupply whimpers "flimsy". Again, this is 250V, 50 amps. That's a LOT of power and you need proper connectors to handle it. This BISupply connector falls far short. I'm really kind of stunned that Amazon would sell something this hazardous. Sure, sell Chinesium junk when it's not dangerous but when it comes to electrical safety they shouldn't screw around. The insidious thing is, this receptacle may seem to work at first but as the years go by I guarantee that the contacts will lose tension, the bare brass contacts will corrode, and the wire clamps will bend/strip out/loosen up, all resulting in more and more resistance heating. Eventually the connector will overheat and melt, or worse. This is a recipe for disaster. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU VALUE YOUR HOUSE AND LIFE!
