4L Compost Caddy

This was to replace our previous one that my son broke. Although the lid hinge is flimsy, I'm not going to blame SimpleHuman because he should have taken the top off before taking it out to the compost, and should have been looking where he was going when he tripped over. What I like about this is that it is fairly unobtrusive on the windowsill behind the sink. I would have preferred the white one like last time (to be even less obtrusive) but this was almost 50% off and it's a very expensive but of kit. The shape is great because it holds a lot without taking up much space, unlike the bucket shaped ones. It's also so easy to flick open, and you don't have to remove the lid and put it somewhere just to use. Important when we only have 2 hands. Being flat edged, it is also much more convenient for putting under the edge of a counter to sweep peelings in. Not so easy with a round one. Expensive but worth it.

We bought this alongside the matching 58L Simplehuman recycling bin, and together they make an excellent waste disposal system. The caddy spends most of its time attached to the bin, gets moved over to the food preparation area while cooking, then gets emptied into the main food waste compartment every couple of days. The removable inner bucket makes it easy to clean, the lid does a good job of keeping smells in, and it's solid enough that it doesn't feel like another bit of flimsy kitchen plastic. It's undeniably expensive for a compost caddy, but the build quality is excellent and it matches the larger bin perfectly. Sometimes it's nice when everyday objects are simply well designed. Recommended, particularly if you're already buying the matching bin.

Perfect size for kitchen worktop. Well made and looks absolutely stunning in the kitchen. Can really well packed and communication throughout my delivery was smooth.

Great bin looks lovely attached to my kitchen bin however, the bin liners are rubbish!! They were all ripped and I could not use them. Not happy with the bin liners at all, waste of money.

I was happy with this initially - good size, attractive looking, easy to clean and (supposedly) sealed so that no flies could get inside. The latter factor was in fact what differentiated it vs other products. Initially it fully met expectations but, once the warmer weather arrived, its Achilles Heel was exposed: the lid doesn't fully close. So, while large flies (blue bottles) cannot enter it, small common food flies can [you can see one coming back out in the video). While we never had fly problems at home before, this caddy now serves as a kind of fly magnet and I am incredibly disappointed. We went through the exercise of buying another one to see if the lid of our's might have just become warped with usage and discovered that no, this is a fundamental design flaw: the bins genuinely don't close properly, and it takes a while to find out, beyond the actual return period. We can't get our purchase price back, but we can save others from making the same mistake.

Excellent caddy. Easy lift lid. All difficult orgnic waste for the council goes into the caddy. Very usful. Keep the fruit flies out. Easy to clean and put in new bag.. If you want to tie the top of the bag do not fill caddy to top.

simplehumanのダストボックスは3代目でずっと愛用しています。現在、生ゴミ用は15Lですが、毎日ゴミ出しする捨てるわけではないので、生ゴミをそのまま捨てるとどうしても悪臭になってしまいます。そのため、一旦生ゴミを毎回スーパーにあるような薄いビニール入れて、それからゴミ箱に捨てていました。面倒だな〜と思っていたところ、シンプルヒューマンにこの「コンポストキャディ４L」という商品を見つけ購入しました。すごい！今までなら半日で臭くなる生ゴミが2日経っても匂いません。バナナの皮やフルーツの皮は臭わないけど、さすがに刺身のツマやキッチンシンクのゴミ受けに溜まったゴミは臭うだろうと思っていたら、抱え込んで嗅がないと臭いを感じません。本当に楽になりました。その上、大きなダストボックスの側面に取り付けることができます。２０２４年、買って一番良かった品です。

Complementa muy bien con otros productos de la marca Simplehuman pues viene con un adaptador para “colgarlo” a un costado de otros botes de basura grandes/dobles de la marca. Tiene precio un poco elevado para un bote de basura pero lo compensan su gran calidad y diseño. Por lo que hace a la durabilidad, los productos de esta marca son muy resistentes y se mantienen funcionales por más de 10 años, con un cuidado o mantenimiento mínimo-nulo. Lo mejor es que tiene un tamaño ideal para una o dos personas (4L), así ya sólo tienes que cambiar la bolsa 1 vez a la semana. Usa bolsas compostables Código Z de Simplehuman (viene 30 bolsas de regalo) pero puedes utilizar de marca genérica de 45x45cm y le quedan bastante bien.

I’m a super fan of pretty much everything Simplehuman does, and this compost container is no exception. It’s efficient, it’s sleek, and it looks great on my counter. Perhaps most importantly, it’s got a deceptively large capacity, but doesn’t take up a huge amount of space. The only thing I’d note is to *not* buy/use the Simplehuman compost bags; they’re incredibly flimsy and rip apart way too easily, and they don’t tie well either. It’s an odd critique for Simplehuman because their garbage bags are SO strong and convenient, but it’s a small quibble. The bin itself still gets five stars, just use it with any other compost bag of your choice. :)

Ik vind de compost-caddy heel praktisch en elegant, echt een aanrader. De kwaliteit is uitstekend, het kwam heel goed ingepakt en met zakjes erbij.
