Easy DYI upgrade. Purewash experience. Tips on water supply installation.
I installed two KOHLER Purewash M300 Non-Electric Bidet Seats for Elongated Toilets in White with Chrome Handles. They replaced the existing soft-close KOHLER toilet seats. The new bidet seats fit well with our elongated KOHLER toilets (Elmbrook / Ellison). This DIY upgrade was easy and well received by the family. Currently, the cold tap water works fine during summer, but concerns were raised about water temperature during colder seasons. It remains to be seen. Overall, it's a reasonably priced non-electric bidet with cold water. KOHLER currently offers two options for this product: handles in pure white or chrome only. A brushed nickel option would better match one of our bathrooms. Overall, 5 stars for the look, quality and functionality. --------------- The following are the installation steps I used to achieve better alignment and hose management. The order of these steps differs slightly from the installation instructions provided by KOHLER in their checklist. Hope you find them beneficial for your needs. 1. Connect the L-end of the white plastic hose to the seat. Tighten the connection as such that the hose goes backward and slightly lower in direction to go just under the water tank. 2. Connect the T-valve to the water tank. Ensure that the stem of the valve faces forward to meet the white plastic hose. 3. Connect the supply hose to the cross-bar of the T-valve. Tighten the connection as needed. Do not turn the water supply yet! 4. Make a whole loop with the white hose and then attach the straight connection of the hose to the T-Valve stem. The loop will help to hide the extra length of the hose just under the water tank. 5. Wipe out any water/moisture from the bottom of the water tank, hoses & connections, and from the floor. 6. Place a dry paper on the floor under the new water connection to easily detect leaks. I prefer to use blue shop paper towel but dry brown bag paper will provide high contrast and color change when wet. 7. Turn ON the water supply. 8. Leave the paper towel for a few minutes to confirm you’ve done it right and there are no water leaks. 9. To test the bidet, wrap the toilet seat with kitchen cling. Then test the knob in both directions (pink for front, and black for rear). 10. Enjoy.

One of the best bathroom inventions ever
Was chatting with a few friends and somehow the conversation turned to bidet seats. My friends who had them swore that they were absolutely fantastic and a must have in any bathroom. I thought they were crazy. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to get one to see what the fuss was all about. I did some research and this Kohler model came up as highly rated and the price was pretty good, so I bought it. The seat is very easy to install and comes with all the hardware needed. Everything was a very good quality and went together well. If I had one gripe, it would be that it's difficult to align on the toilet due to the fact that it has a separate bracket that installs apart from the main seat, so you really can't see how things line up until you slide the seat onto the bracket. However, this design makes it very easy to attach and detach for cleaning, if you ever needed to. The seat functions well and I like the fact that it has two separate cleaning stalks which work in slightly different ways to get you clean. Both cleaning stalks spray water with very accurate aim. There are a few types of Bidet seats, some which have heated water, and some that don't, like this one. Each has its own advantage. The non-heated models (like this one) don't require electricity and generally have more cleaning power since they don't rely on an internal pump for the water spray. Heated models are less powerful and require a power source, but they do have heated water, which some people might want. I was worried about this since spraying cold water on yourself might be a shock, but in reality, it's not a big deal and not worth the extra price / complexity of a heated model. Apparently, humans don't have a lot of sensitivity down there, so the cold water really isn't much of a shock. I'm really satisfied with how this thing works and it's a must-have in any bathroom.

Avoid this product - Kholar makes a one piece- Get it!
First time it broke after only five weeks of use. It literally had me slide part way off the toilet and onto the floor when just trying to scoot just a bit forward to get up. ~Ef you Arthritis~Pro tip: Don’t scoot. Fixed that problem until the replacement square attachment plate could be ordered from the only source available was from, from Kholer clear over on the east coast (Go Seahawks) Three weeks and $15 bucks later it arrives. Okay, here we go for round two. I kept my fingers crossed. I really, really don’t want to get under the toilet again to install another one. Alas I was left disappointed. I then had the shiny handle break off last week inside the bidet making it useless. Considering that I only bought it last year, I have to say I’m disappointed. I would avoid this overpriced over-engineered mess if I were you. BTW I tried to make it work because of the cost. Just don’t. Don’t do what I did and trying to polish a turd just leaves you with shiny bulseaat. I don’t have a problem with Kholar but did they even test this for people over 200lbs? When this broke I replaced it with the $35 stand alone version of the bidet from Kholar along with a $40 Kholar elongated seat. Seventy five bucks total and it is also so much more comfortable compared to this one piece POS. Notice a trend here?

Elderly person loves the bidet feature!
We purchased this for an elderly person, as suggested by physical and occupational therapists. She absolutely loves it! She doesn't know how she got along without it all these years. It was not difficult to install and has worked perfectly. I personally like the quiet-close lid, as a regular toilet seat lid can slam if the person doesn't have a good grip. Just one caution: if you have an assistive device, like arms, to help the person rise from the toilet, you may have to leave the lid open to make everything fit. But that isn't a real issue, especially if only one person uses that particular toilet.

It's a nice bidet, needs minor changes
Installation is easy and adjustments, if needed are easy as will. While the bidet works well, I have 2 minor issues with this toilet seat. 1) I wish the stream was a bit stronger. I had a different bidet that mounted under the existing seat and the pressure was great. The Kohler feels kind of soft (I guess that's how I would descibe it.) 2) When shutting it off, there is no click or marking to let you know it's completely off. If you aren't 100% centered on the shut off, it will continue to drip. I sort of resolved that issue by drawing a line in the proper shut off position so guests, or anyone not familiar with the bidet, will know where to position the valve to insure a good shut off (see photo.) I used a magic marker and drew bot lines.

Product met all my expectations
I am so very happy with this product. I have used the other type of bidets for a few years but like others this beats them all. I like the low profile and the easy clean. It definitely seems sturdy compared to the other products. Thank you Kohler for making a great product and for amazon for the nice packaging.

If you can keep the seat from leaking, it works well.
Others have shared how difficult it is to prevent this seat from leaking. I had the same issue. Where the l-shaped fitting on the hose meets the seat, it is very easy to cross-thread. I had a nagging leak at the seat and I had to torque down the tightening nut more than any plumbing fixture should ever have to be tightened. I was expecting at any moment for the plastic threads on the seat to snap. If I ever have to remove the seat, I’d likely use pipe dope on the threads on the chrome hose attachment. After fixing the leak, the seat functioned well and it fits the oversized Kohler commode well, although you lose quite a lot of bowl area near the back of the commode. I typically love Kohler products but this one is just mediocre in terms of design and build quality. Not sure I could recommend this seat, but after buying and returning another brand due to poor fit, I went with the Kohler to ensure the seat would fit the larger, elongated bowl of my Kohler commode.

Easy to install in most cases
These actually have the hot water function, and you don’t have to do anything extra. It’s a normal easy set up. I am terrible with plumbing or anything like that and I put one on so easily. It’s really simple. The problem is I ordered two and one of the toilets in my house is a really cheap toilet and I am having a terrible time installing it on that one, because the threading on the cheap toilet is terrible & now it’s leaking, etc. But thats not the fault of the bidet itself, as on my other higher quality toilet I installed it in literally less than 10 minutes with no problems.

Reasonably good Bidet seat
Good replacement, T pipe joint thread was not a good fit, need to get a new one from hardware store to fit. Other than that, it works well.

Not polished chrome handle.
Handle was a white plastic. Not a polished chrome handle from seller image. Otherwise I would give 5 stars.
