My sons have gone through the Dangerous Book for Boys from cover to cover, and we were excited to find this pocket book to continue the fun! We live on a small farm in the country, and using resources in our woods or on our property, our children have been able to complete so many of the projects described. Our girls have used the books as well and have gotten much enjoyment out of the ideas provided. We have banned video games from our home, and having books filled with ideas for non-screen activities is golden. We love this book and the other "Dangerous" books. Review: Great to see the boys move - What a wonderful for fathers and sons to connect. How great to see them interacting with each other and learning from each other. How exciting to see a young man put down the controller or IPad and join Dad in making something together that they will be able to talk about for years. I have given this book and the Daring Book for Girls to others and have nothing but good reviews back from it. Use it. Get moving and enjoy the comradeship you will get with your loved ones. By the way, girls like making stuff, too.

Great to see the boys move

Must buy to encourage reading
I am a Special Education teacher. The students I have, for the most part, avoid reading at every opportunity. Every year for Winter break I give them a book. This book has, without exception, become their cherished possession. I was apprehensive when I gave it to my first grade student ( I have K-5) but when he came back from break he was excited about the things he and his dad did from the book. Since I have the same students for consecutive years I recommend (and have also given) "The Boys' Book Of Survival (How To Survive Anything, Anywhere)" and this year "The Boy's Book of Adventure: The Little Guidebook for Smart and Resourceful Boys". These books are read over and over and cherished. One word of warning - I had parents who had not read the book complain to the principal about their children being given "dangerous books" I sent letters out before I purchased them with a copy of the table of contents included but that was not enough. If you're giving it as a gift - make sure the parents know that the word "dangerous" is just there (in my opinion) to make the title appealing to boys,

What do I get a boy?
Little girls are easy to buy for but boys always stump me. I've purchased this twice now as gifts (once for a dinner party where I knew they had a 9-year old boy who was going to be stuck at home with all of us). The hardback copy makes a unique and quality gift, and the clever and short projects inside are fascinating to a boy of practically any age. So glad I found this.

Small and will make a good gift
As described, haven’t read it, bought as a gift for my son, but I flipped through it and everything seems as described and will make a good gift.

Bought this for a customers son who was glued to the TV. 6 WEEKS LATER he was interested in helping his dad do various jobs around the house and outside to try out what was in the book.

Sometimes I worry about the amount of time children spend watching TV or playing computer games these days and I think that this book (and the others in the series, along with the larger volumes) is the antidote for some of that. It's active encouragement for boys (and girls!) to get outside and do something! There's enough in here to occupy an entire summer and, as others have said, the book is small enough to fit into one's pocket and is sturdily made so it won't fall apart. The entire look and feel of the book take you back to a bygone era and immediately evoke memories of "Swallows and Amazons" and "The Famous Five". The book covers all kinds of things to do both indoors and out, from tying knots to making candles and from building a treehouse to training a dog to do tricks. I think there's plenty in here for everyone and this book makes an excellent gift for any child that you think watches too much TV and needs to get outside and covered in dirt a bit more often. It's also a good book for adults to have in case you find you have children visiting and don't know how to keep them entertained.
