Review: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Beautiful Book! - I have been wanting this book ever since pictures from "Blomstermandala" started being posted in Facebook Coloring Groups, so I was delighted to see it published for the American market by none other than Gibbs Smith (same publisher who has published Hanna Karlzon for the US market). The book is GORGEOUS and I am so impressed with the gold cloth used on the spine binding, and the depth of rich color on the equally impressive hardcover. According to the Title Page this book is ALSO available in an Artist's Edition and as Postcards, but I'm completely happy with my more 'ordinary' edition. The drawings are crisp, the paper is good quality and of course Maria Trolle's art is whimsical, fun, and imaginative. While there are a few pictures with some small spaces, by and large the coloring space sizes are larger and easily accomodate ALL coloring mediums. The pictures ARE printed double sided, and while there are lots of images to color in the book, many of the double page spreads, as well as a few of the single page drawings DO go into the spine, which will make them difficult to color effectively. I did a little expreimenting and was ABLE to flatten the binding enough to reach those areas though. I would NOT use markers in the book without blotter sheets between the pages, and you will need to be prepared to sacrifice whatever picture is on the backside of a page you are coloring it markers or gellys bled through, so investment in the ARTIST EDITION might be the best option for marker colorists. This is a FABULOUS book though, and well worth adding to my collection of premium coloring books! Review: Beautiful Garden Designs by Maria Trolle – printed on both sides of the page - This is my first coloring book by Maria Trolle. It is by the same publishers who publish Hanna Karlzon's books. It is the same beautiful quality publishing with a hardcover and thick cream pages. Ms. Trolle's designs focus on the garden with lots of flowers and animals. While most of the designs are done with black lines on cream background, there are a few designs which are cream elements on a black background. It makes for a lovely change of pace right in the same coloring book. While the designs in the book are detailed, I would not categorize them as intricate or having areas with extremely small spots to color. Because the book is printed two-sided, I'm being very careful with what I use to color in it. I am avoiding using my alcohol-based markers as those bleed through the page (you can see what my test results were with various medium below.) I've also found that it is a tad difficult to color into the binding area on designs which either cross over (two-page designs) or have elements that merge into the binding. Eighteen of the designs spread across two pages and a couple of the single page designs merge into the border so I don't have issues with the majority of the designs in the book. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing it with my coloring medium. 90+ pages of lovely garden designs by Maria Trolle Printed on both sides of the page Paper is heavyweight, cream color, somewhat smooth, and non-perforated. A few of the designs have black backgrounds printed on cream paper. Sewn binding which can easily be snipped to remove a number of pages at a time. The binding is the stay-flat style which allows you to open the book somewhat flat without breaking the outer spine. It is still rather difficult to get the book to open flat and takes some effort. Some designs merge into the binding area, especially those which spread across two pages. Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page. If you use these, you will have ink seep through and mar the design on the back of the page. Water-based markers, gel pens and India ink pens do not bleed through the page. Colored pencils work well with the paper. I was able to blend, layer the same and multiple colors using both oil and wax-based pencils with ease.

Great paper, happy coloring and beautiful art!
Beautiful book, art and gorgeous, heavy paper. The only thing I would change is putting illustrations on both sides of the page, NOT a good idea. Otherwise, these books are a work of art and if you love to color, you will LOVE these books. I own them all now and am looking forward to the next.

Wonderful Book, beautiful drawings
I have colored about 6 pages in this book and love using my inktense pencils with a waterbrush. However this book is totally bound, even some of the pictures are bound right into the extreme middle. The pages in this book are NOT single sided, and when I do use my waterbrush with my inktense, it will buckle up slightly but not too badly. After I received this book, the inside cover does say that it is available in Artist Quality and also in post cards. My interpretation of Artist Quality means the paper is better quality and more suited for other mediums such as markers and watercolors. This book is okay with the Inktense pencils and the Albrecht Durer water color pencils using a (not dripping wet) water brush. I do love the beautiful pictures and they are very professional looking. I just wish I could have ordered the Artist Quality version, and will be looking for more books by this artist. It did take me a while to receive this and I did preorder this book, but it came exactly as promised. This artist is in Sweden, and I believe I read somewhere that the pictures in this book come from her own garden I can't be for sure. It is definitely a beautiful book as long as you don't mind the bound pages and the double sided pictures. By the way the double sided pictures aren't seeming to be affected by my inktense or my Albrecht Durer water color pencils

exquisite, but paper is ever-so-slightly too smooth
This is an exquisite coloring book! - From the hard cover to the artwork, I think it could be an heirloom. I'm glad I bought it, because the drawings are very sweet and are easy to color. The drawings are appropriately detailed, as far as the overall pictures, but not in tiny lines and tedious areas. I only deducted one star because the tooth is ever-so-slightly too smooth. If you are accustomed to Johanna Basford's books, or Hanna Karlzon's, you'll understand. Although the pages of all three books feel the same when I run my hand over them, for some reason I can tell a difference when I color. I use Prismacolor Premier and Faber-Castell Polychromos, and the toothiest paper seems to be in Johanna's books, with Hanna's a close second, and Maria's a third. I do recommend this book, however, for the beauty and simple happiness the drawings, and even the cover, bring. I hope this review helps, and give your opinion in the comments if you'd like. I enjoy hearing other colorist's opinions of coloring books.

Best Adult Coloring Book Ever
This is the Best adult coloring book I’ve ever had! I’m an Army veteran of over 26 years. I experience depression and anxiety every day. I deploy many efforts to lower my PTSD, and this is one of them. I have purchased MANY adult coloring books, but these drawings help to add rich colors to each, turning it to beautiful artwork. I used the Arteza Brush Pens. The delicate control needed to color each page relaxes me, and is a sort of meditation. I enjoy painting/coloring while listening to an Audible book. This is a great escape during the pandemic isolation. The pages do not bleed and I simply adore the hard back. If there is a change, I would recommend making it spiral bound with perforated pages for framing. In all, you simply must sample a book to see if it speaks to you the same way. I have to go now and buy two more books.

Amazing Coloring Book
This is my second purchase of this book. I loved it so much myself, that I bought a copy for my Mom. We have found a great hobby to do together with adult coloring books and gel pens. This author has so many amazing books that we now own. We are so happy with the art work, and the quality of the paper. Although we use gel pens, we have not had any issues with the ink going through to the other side. This author has pictures on the front and back of the pages, but honestly have had no problems. I always let my work dry before moving on. I have had some challenges completing some of the art work that goes into the seam of the book, but with patience, you can get it done beautifully. I highly recommend coloring with gel pens. This is so fun to do with a friend/parent to spend quality time talking, and relaxing together. Highly recommend.

Wonderful!!
This is my 3rd coloring book by Maria Trolle, I absolutely love the artwork! The pages are nice and thick and there’s no bleed through. I will absolutely be buying more.
