Very reasonable priced collection of books! Books fantastic read! The paper the books were made from was rather cheap feel n look, but only read once! Worth £10 each book!

Read the first 2 and can't wait to start the 3rd one.

Wonderful books. The only historical novels that I look forward to reading a second (or more) times.

If you like historical novels you must read the shardlake series by the late c.j.sansom these are belter novels with lots of real life characters I.e Henry 8,Cromwell,rich

C J Sansom was recommended to me by old friend when discussing books we had recently read. The Shardlake series manages to transport you back over 400 years to times well chronicled in history, yet creating believable characters & situations that you feel could’ve really happened. Sansom also creates atmosphere by describing the smells, sounds, & the weather surrounding the daily lives of people living in extremes of either poverty or riches whilst dealing with the politics & events of the day. It’s as though he had a time machine to allow him to harvest all the details. My only criticisms relates to some of the modern language used by the characters yet, in fairness, Olde English would’ve been difficult to follow. References to time though, would certainly not have been talked about in minutes & seconds, as accurate time pieces were not invented until over 100 years later. Those comments aside, I thoroughly recommend these books for those interested in history & ‘what if’ scenarios. The only tragedy is that CJS is no longer with us to provide us with more historical adventures.

I’ve already read this series and passed them on. I did enjoy all of the stories enough to re-read. My main reason to review was to let Amazon know that this delivery driver is an absolute delight. A brilliant series of books. Very detailed and full of historical fact. So sad, he died before completing the 8th book. Shardlake is a great character. Meloncholy, uplifting and smart enough to play the game. Well worth investing your time and money.

Absolutely riveting mystery series from medieval times. Living breathing prose that recreates a time that we know little about
