If you want mustard you got it
I bought these to use in pickling and occasionally to grind into mustard. The flavor, aroma and overall goodness exceeded my expectations. I would say they were fresh because the quality was exceptional. If you need brown mustard seeds for any reason do yourself a favor and get these.

Good quality and price
The bag is 100% brown mustard seeds without any unwanted foreign seeds or debris, a very nice quality. They are bold, hot, and spicy and make excellent homemade mustard condiments. Interestingly the mustard I've made and eat daily has opened my sinuses more than ever before, it's truly amazing.

Homemade mustard from scratch is easy to do.
Purchased 3 lbs each, brown and yellow mustard seeds. Started 1st batch of mustard consisting of seeds, apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, salt, onion powder, garlic powder. Room temperature aging in pantry for 2 more days. Preliminary taste is good and should only get better. Good price and product.

Ounce per Ounce, this is the best buy
I bought this to make my own German Whole Grain Mustard. It made a nicely spicy batch. I allowed it to "mellow" for a month and it was great on sandwiches. Homemade mustard spread is easier than you think. However, this is A LOT of mustard seed. You're going to have enough to share, or store for long term. I might try planting some.

Great deal for organic mustard seeds
I recently discovered how easy it is to make homemade mustard and this was a great deal for mustard seeds. 3lbs is a lot and will last a really long time. I thought that brown mustard seeds were spicier than yellow but I personally found that the yellow seeds I bought from a different source were much spicier than these. I also found that there were some little twigs and debris but I guess that is to be expected. I always wash and sift through things like beans and lentils so why wouldn't I expect the same of little mustard seeds. I put a few spoonfuls in a little sieve and picked out any twigs and washed them before soaking them in apple cider vinegar to make my mustard. Also I noticed a lot of reviews complaining that they didn't sprout and leaving bad reviews. As far as I saw these seeds weren't marketed as seeds for sprouting so it doesn't seem fair to judge them as such. I believe you can specifically buy mustard seeds for that purpose. For culinary use these seeds are just fine and the packaging was fun as well. 4.27.2021 update: When I tasted these seeds while soaking they weren't at all spicy to me. However once I finished soaking them and ground them up to make mustard they began to release their spiciness and it tastes just like very spicy brown deli mustard. Good flavor and wonderful bite.
