This cushion has been a godsend!
Several years ago I began to experience some discomfort at the bottom of my pelvis whenever I sat down for an extended period of time. I had no idea what was causing it so I brought the problem to the attention of my physician during my annual check-up. The good doctor told me that I had an "elongated tailbone" and that there was really not a whole lot he could do to relieve my pain. He pretty much told me that this was something I was going to have to learn to live with. Well, the problem has gotten considerably worse over the past couple of years. While watching a two hour movie with my wife or catching a ballgame on TV I would have to get up at least 2 or 3 times just to relieve the pressure. Furthermore, there were times that I had a problem just getting myself off the couch. Still I was under the impression that there was nothing available out there to give me the relief I needed. About a month ago I saw a cushion advertised in one of those Sunday newspaper inserts. The ad proclaimed that this product relieved back and tailbone pain. Could this be something that would help me? I immediately dialed the "800" number and ordered one of these cushions. It was just $14.95. Well, the cushion came. It was kind of flimsy as you might expect. After all, what do you want for $14.95? But it did help some and I saw the wisdom of this design. Now if I could only find something a bit more substantial I might be able solve my problem once and for all. I logged onto amazon.com and discovered the "Large FIRM Tush Cush Seat Cushion". What an odd name for a product! Anyway, the design was essentially the same one as the knock-off I had purchased a few weeks earlier. Priced at around $47.00 "The Original High Quality Tush Cush is designed to relieve and prevent back pain, numb buttocks and other discomforts associated with sitting. The cutout section suspends your tailbone (coccyx) reducing pressure on your lower lumbar discs." Finally, the product description goes on to say "The wedge shape (slant from the back 3" down to 1/2" in the front) tilts your pelvis forward to restore your spine's natural lumbar lordotic curve. Now the FIRM version of the Tush Cush that I ordered is designed for folks over 200 lbs. But since I weigh 180 and prefer firm to soft anyway I ordered this slightly more expensive model. What convinced me to buy was that an overwhelming majority of Amazon reviewers recommended or highly recommended this product. Well the proof is in the pudding. I received my "Large FIRM Tush Cush Seat Cushion" on Thursday and immediately put it to the test. I can tell you that for me this is a godsend! No more pain and I can get off the couch normally again. This appears to be a well-made, high quality product. In fact, I was surprised to learn that this product carries a three year guarantee. Many reviewers have mentioned that they have had their cushion for several months or more and it has hardly compressed at all. So if you are suffering from back pain or tailbone pain this is a product that just might bring you that welcome relief that you seek. Take my word for it....it has sure helped me! I have just ordered a second cushion for use at work. Very highly recommended!

Relief is spelled T-U-S-H_C-U-S-H
A little background. I suddenly came down with debilitating low back pain several weeks ago, since my job is driving buses I needed to get up and working in a hurry! In between paychecks, I didn't have a lot of money so I was only able to go to the chiropractor a couple of times. (This was on the advice of my doctor who also prescribed some anti-inflammatory medicine.) Our chiro is a great guy. He got me up and moving again, but advised me to find a cushion like this to take the weight off my tailbone so it could rest and heal. Both my husband and I have packed on the "Recession 40" (similar to the "Retail 30" or "Freshman 15"), so we both top 200lbs. Ordered this item after reading several other reviews for cushions with the "tail bone" cut out. Since the big complaint for the others was how fast they go flat, even for people only 150lbs, I was concerned with finding a cushion that would hold up. This one seemed to be the best so I ordered it. Not only did it arrive on Saturday in almost half the stated delivery time, a huge mental relief for me staring at the long pain-filled work week ahead, but it worked fabulously! It was so comfortable to sit on and, as a bonus, it put me at the sitting position I had been fighting to get for over a year with the so-called "adjustable" bus seat. Huzzah! To make things even better, my lower back pain began to recede at a tremendous pace! I use it every time I'm at work now. At least 3 other drives have asked me about it. I encouraged them try it out for themselves on our break room chairs. I think all of them wrote down the company information afterward. When I'm not driving I let my husband use it. He has had bad tailbone pain for months now and he experienced much relief with the cushion too. He said he'd give it a 90%. I highly recommend this product!

Worth Every Penny
March 2009 my husband injured a disk herniated or bulging (MRI couldn't tell for sure) between L5 and the sacrum. The more he sits, the more pain he has shooting down his leg. Since he is an I.T. guy this is a real problem. I searched everywhere for some type of solution and after reading lots of reviews, thought I would try this one because of the cut out where the spine would be. After arriving I think it sat for weeks because he was frankly a little embarrassed about sitting on a pillow. Finely one day when the pain was bad enough I asked him to just take it to work and see if it helped. He has not gone without it since then. He takes it everywhere - in the car, to church, to work. If he forgets it, we go back for it. The difference in comfort for him is amazing. It is firm and doesn't seem to have lost it's shape. The fact that the front narrows causing less pressure on the back of the legs seems to make a big difference in comfort. If you have a back injury with pain shooting down one leg, I think this is definitely worth a try. It is not going to fix the problem but it sure seems to allow sitting more comfortably for longer periods.

Good product but prefer the sacro ease wedge more
This product was as described, however I found it a bit too large, too firm and the sacral cutout was also too large and uncomfortable for me. Although I did order this in a firm and large size, I didn't realize how firm it would be and that the size of the cut out was over 3 inches wide. I decided to return this and ordered a "sacral ease wedge ease" by McCarty instead, which I would rate 5/5 stars. The latter feels more like true memory foam with just enough give and the sacral cut out is optional. You just have to remove it. I have a herniated disc without any sacral pain so I'm leaving the cut out in, but it's nice to know it's an option. Although the sacral ease cost about $20.00 more than the tush cush I feel it's worth it. The tush cush overall is a good product, but I am glad I exchanged it for the "sacral ease wedge ease" which relieves my pain more effectively, especially while driving.
