A Powerful CPU for Gaming & Productivity!
I recently built my first custom PC with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! This processor offers an excellent balance of performance for the price, It provides performance comparable to more expensive models without breaking the bank. Whether you're gaming, streaming, or working on intensive tasks, this CPU holds its ground brilliantly if you’re on a budget. I've tested it with various games, and it performs exceptionally well, especially at 1080p resolution. The 6 cores and 12 threads allow for efficient background processing without any noticeable lag. Despite heavy use, I’ve found that the CPU stays cool even under load. I paired it with the Wraith Prism, and I rarely see temperatures rising above 70°C, which is impressive. The installation process was straightforward, and it worked seamlessly with my existing B550 motherboard. I appreciate that AMD continues to support their CPUs with BIOS updates, ensuring compatibility with future technologies. Overall, I highly recommend the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 to anyone looking for a powerful, efficient, and budget-friendly CPU. It's a solid investment for both current & future needs.

Great performance on a budget build
It performs well for 1080p gaming, the stock cooler is plenty, it’s best if you buy it around the $75 dollar mark it’s really budget friendly, it came in a good condition too. Also be careful not to break the underside pins

AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core
Great budget processor for everyday tasks and entry-level gaming. The 6 cores and 12 threads handle multitasking smoothly, and performance is solid for the price. It runs efficiently and is easy to install. Just note that it doesn’t have integrated graphics, so a dedicated GPU is required.

Pretty good and got it half price too
This was a very good choice for an upgrade with special product pricing. Cannot go wrong with Ryzen. There are multi core AMD processors available that surpass its performance, but this one suits just fine for the photo and video editing software I use.

Works very well
For the low price, you get excellent performance in a variety of games. The stealth cooler lacks though. It doesn't have copper in the radiator, but that's a small detail. The processor itself closely approaches the superior 5600. It's easy to install in the standard AM4 socket.

Amazing budget cpu.
Amazing budget cpu also it comes with a cpu cooler with thermal paste on it. It can run games like Minecraft at 500-700 FPS and it’s strong enough to run blade and sorcery for my vr players like me. It’s a great overall cpu if your on a budget. I recommend greatly.

The best price / performance on the market right now
Great little CPU for my needs. No, it’s not the world’s best gaming or workstation CPU, not by a long shot. But it’s also FAR from the most basic as well. The 6 cores and high clock speeds gives you plenty of firepower for every task that a “typical home computer” will ever need to do. Would I use it as a dedicated 3D modeling or video editing CPU? No, not professionally. But for light, intermittent use, yeah it’ll definitely get you through a few projects here and there, but if I were looking for a professional unit for daily use I would consider an upgrade. As far as gaming, it still holds its own fairly well. Games today are becoming more and more multi-thread dependent, so this little fella will run very close to maxed out in some newer titles. At higher resolutions, the GPU will still almost always be your bottleneck, but I’ve had a few fans this CPU has ran upwards of 80% utilization on, which somewhat blew my mind, as I typically only see 63-67% utilization with my other computers R5 5600x, even in the most CPU-intensive titles. With all that being said, I would still 100% recommend this CPU for anyone building a budget system. Despite AM4’s age, the platforms lifespan has unwittingly grown thanks to stuff like the memory price hikes, and the great pricing of AM4 units. While the r5 5500 isn’t the top-performer even in the AM4 generation in any metric, there’s no denying it’s still a rock-solid processor that will crush every task you throw at it on a consumer level, and honestly wouldn’t really require an upgrade again until AM6, in most cases. And for the $75 it was at the time I purchased it, it’s almost the best CPU deal on the market at this time. Sure, it’s only about 75% as “good” as the r5 5600…..but it’s also about 1/3 the price. So while not being the king of performance, it is almost undoubtedly the kind of value. Installation of this unit into my b550 motherboard was effortless and required zero brain power. My Assassin 120mm cooling tower bolted on just fine (duh) and temps look great, all cores and frequencies appear stable, and this processor is purring like a kitten. Would highly recommend for everything looking for a CONSUMER grade processor, aside from the maybe the most dedicated gamers or folks who do a lot of cpu-dependent video editing in their spare time. But for casual-moderate gaming, light intermittent modeling or editing use, and all other typical daily computer uses, the r5 5500 is MORE than enough for most people

Solid Budget CPU For Under $100
This CPU's performance for the money is remarkable, It's able to be overclocked and undervolted with decent performance gains for doing so. Some important things to know before buying it is that it lacks integrated graphics (requires a VGA video adapter AKA graphics card for display out) and it only supports up to PCIe 3.0, which does reduce your GPU performance a tad. (although its not really noticeable under most circumstances) The cooling requirements are pretty minimal given the CPU's low 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power) rating. The included cooler will keep it within safe operating temperatures unless under extreme load and overclocked in any way. I do however always recommend a decent aftermarket budget cooler. As with any AM4 CPU the pins are rather easy to bend by accident, be careful during installation. Overall a very good entry level AMD CPU for gaming and light professional work. 10/10
