"artificial flavors"? why/which?

Proprietary or not, if you see artificial flavoring and the manufacturer tells you the purpose of that ingredient is to imitate maple syrup, you know that artificial ingredient is some sort of synthetic analogue of fenugreek, which smells just like maple syrup.

Every couple years as the wind shifts in early summer in New York City, there are articles penned about residents wondering what that maple syrup odor in the air is.  Though the media plays like they don't know to milk a non-story for a couple days, it's because there's a big bakery in northern New Jersey right across the river that uses lots of fenugreek.

Glazed pecans have a rough sugary coated appearance and use about twice the amount of sugar as our praline pecan with no flavor added. The praline pecan has a smooth shiny appearance, with half the sugar of the glazed pecan and praline pecan flavor is added.  The process used to make each of these pecans is a bit different as well.

Are the glazed pecans gluten free?

The glazed pecans do not have gluten containing ingredients; however, this product does not have the same oversight that would go into ones which are labeled as gluten free.  Some products offered by JBSS do contain gluten and are produced and packaged within the same facility.  Still, there is separation, segregation, and sanitation measures taken with gluten as we do with allergens.  Products that are labeled as gluten free are routinely tested to ensure that they do not contain traces of products that contain gluten.

If a person needs to follow a gluten free diet, they need to look for products that indicate “gluten free” on the label or are certified by a third-party as gluten free.
