We are using this for a motivator/reinforcer for a 5th grader not for cooking. However, the alarm was sufficient if that is your use. Here were our requirements: 1) Light 2) audible alarm must be able to be turned off 3) effective but quiet vibration 4) must look cool This timer meets all of those and more. This can count up and down. Can be set for minutes MM:SS or hours HH:MM. Alarm setting (audible, light, vibration) are on back and are small (so less tempting). Display is large and easily readable from some distance. What would have been nice: -Multiple timer function (e.g. T1, T2, T3, T4) so can track both how much time to transition and how long seated. -A backlight In any event, the vibration is subtle, as is the light. It was enough to get our attention, but could possibly be missed. It does have a magnet and small fold-out stand. This is the exact same timer besides color (I bought both - mfr the same) as Polder Digital Timer with Vibrating, Audible, and Illuminated Alarm . Personally, I like the red.

I already own one, but purchased two more as gifts for my adult children. Works perfectly, large numbers, so I do not require my reading glasses. Aside of checking "doneness", I love this thermometer for checking leftovers when reheating, or if the center of a Frozen Pot pie is hot yet, or the temperature of water needed to proof my yeast. So many different uses !

I freaking love this new cooking thermometer! I used to sit and wait two minutes to get a temp on foods all while the food cooled off. This reads instantly and has a super fine tip so you’re not making big holes and losing juices.

It started making this noise and not functioning so I thought the battery need to be changed. I open the battery slide and found the rubber O-ring broken. I went to the hardware store and got new batteries and a new O-ring, installed them and it is still making these noises it won’t turn off. Pressing the reset button on the back does not do anything. For the price of this product, I would think that it would last more than two years. I’m very disappointed.

I needed a timer in order to know when to stop my meditation sessions. In addition to a sound alarm and a light to signal the elapsed time, it also has a vibrate option. I use this since it is the least abrupt and more soothing than the sound alarm. The unit is solid and well-built. The numbers are big for easy viewing. It is easy to use, but be sure both plastic packaging pieces are totally removed from the battery compartment or else it might not work or only partially work. If you do that, you should have a good experience.

The batteries are included with the thermometer but they are not installed. The instructions for doing so are clear, but they do not match the device. I spent an hour trying to get the batteries into the battery tray with the correct side up as instructed, but finally concluded that the only way they could be inserted was upside down. So I tried that, but — as expected — the thermometer did not work. I sent everything back to the manufacturer, explaining the situation and asking them to install the batteries for me. They have not responded nor, of course, returned the device — but it has only been a week since I sent it. The tiny screw that holds the battery drawer in place is difficult for my fat fingers to reinsert because the O-ring that makes the device waterproof makes it necessary to hold the drawer in while turning the screwdriver. That said, the device looks like it is well designed, well made, and of high quality materials, but I haven't tried it yet.

I've been grilling for 40 years and have never had the consistent results that I have now that I use this every time. We grill 4-5 times/week all year. We have much better results with chicken and steak now that we use it every time. Highly recommend for everybody. Tenderloin roast from the oven was cooked exactly the way we like it. It doesn't make a big hole in the meat for juice to escape like our old analog thermometer did.
