This works great to deter rodents. We had a pretty bad rat & mouse infestation; traps were somewhat effective but not consistently. We got this owl decoy and it virtually solved all the rodent problems, and it saves us the trouble of dealing with traps & dead rodents. Now, they just stay away. It helps to move the owl often (as a real owl would move) so that the rodents don’t get used to it.

We bought this owl to discourage squirrels visiting & running around the roof, disturbing our sleep. We placed it on top of our patio. Due to motion activation the head swivels, the eyes pulse & glow, and the squirrels stay away because the owl is so realistic. We don't use the screech feature because it would keep us awake! No matter which way the owl's head has rotated the little solar panel collects enough light during daytime to recharge the battery for overnight swiveling & glowing. One $2 bag of kitty litter was poured into the owl's body to weigh it down & keep it in place.

This “Ollie da owl” as brand new is very effective in movement and keeping away his fellow feather friends….. Am not sure why the manufacturer recommends not on the ground because Ollie was selected to deal with Quails and rabbits who do love the ground and lower level nesting…. But for now Ollie works well on a table (placed rocks inside his base for wind stability) and we have yet to see what a spring and summer brings for durability and effectiveness..for now, looks great and operates as advertised….

This does not work. It does not scare the squirrels. Furthermore even if you leave in full sun you have to charge every few days.

This is a pretty cool owl. The motion sensor on it is crazy no matter which direction the head is pointing it will activate. It also has a pretty good distance to activate I was about 25 ft away and it was still going off. The sound in the glowing eyes are pretty cool as well. Definitely would recommend this to protect the crops. You can also mute it if you don't want the sounds.

I got it today and seems like when on the head moves and hoots even though not much movement if any. That is fine I guess as got to keep birds and rodents away. Biggest thing is the switch needs to be relocated to outside where it is much easier to get to that where it currently is. Had to hit switch when head moving around. Be real easy to Have it on back of owl head with a lil latch covering over it. Just pull open latch and switch on or off vs trying to get between head and body and hit switch. I think is overall well made other than the switch location. Maybe hooting could be a lil louder but is ok so far.

I have several of these to keep birds off my black 4 rail fence. This one works the best!

This little dude works great - I have to turn it off when I'm working in the garden cuz it's hooting at me constantly. It's not that easy to attach it to anything substantial - but a little craftiness will get it done. A few days after I put it out in the garden we had a torrential rain and wind storm - I looked out the window because I was worried about my newly planted seedlings and there was that little owl - spinning around and flashing it's eyes and , I imagine, hooting away. Weather just makes it mad! I got it to try and keep the birds and chipmunks from my blueberries - they are big enough yet to share with nature.
