Best-in-class camera for home/damage inspections!
Overall, this is impressive camera, I am quite happy with the quality and the features. I am a home inspector and water/fire damage mitigation inspector so I use this almost everyday, and here's what I can honestly say about my Pocket2.... -The Unit: The physical unit is well built, it feels solid in your hands with a nice non-slip coating. It lacks the heavy rubber overmolding some similar form factor cameras have, but actually like that. The touchscreen is accurate and very responsive, and buttons feel great and are 'clicky' and not difficult to depress. Comes with a nice semi- hardside zippered case with a velcro strap so it won't slide out when you unzip it. -The Pictures: Comparatively, you won't find another camera with this level of definition in this price range. Over the years I have been a FLIR guy and though I always would be, since using this camera, I wouldn't look back. I have used the FLIR One, E8, C3-X & C5 and I feel this camera has better definition than any of those, at a slightly cheaper price. Obviously you came get more powerful camera from flir, but not without spending thousands on dollars. For 600$, you won't find another camera that can give you this level of thermal resolution. The standard color range camera is alright, I wouldn't use it to take my regular inspection photos, but it work great in hybrid mode to give you an accurate overlay of what you are looking at over the thermal image. Used in combo with a laser thermometer, I have found it's temp range it be very accurate, within +/- 2 degress F° usually, once you have dialed in your emissivity settings. -The software: If you have used a C5, it's quite similar. Your 3 touch buttons on the right of the screen, and a touch pull-down menu. I have found it to be faster and more responsive than the C5 though, less waiting for the camera to process your interaction. Menu setting are straight forward and pretty easy to make quick changes to emissivity or color palettes. As with all thermal cameras, it can take a few seconds to calibrate, especially if you point and something in a totally different temp range. It takes 1-2 seconds to lock in a picture once you press the shutter button, objectively faster than my C5. It's easy to quickly get to the galley a switch between true color and infrared versions of an image. -The App: The HIKMicro viewer app is pretty decent. I have only used the android version so I can't speak to the apple application. I use it on my samsung fold 5 and Galaxy 10+ tab, both work without issue. Connecting to the camera work well most of the time, via Bluetooth or wifi. It takes a minute to set up, and have device and the camera par, and you have go through the motions every time you turn the Pocket2 on, but once it's paired, it pretty seamless. It easy to download your pics from the camera to your device, although you have to do it one by one. I do wish the camera could accept a SD card, or allow for batch to transfer of photos, but it's still usable in its current setup, just takes an extra minute or two to get all your pics downloaded. The thermal image analyzer is not as powerful as FLIRs version, but it's fine for basic reports. One thing I love is once the camera is pared to your device, it live streams. I will connect my tablet to the camera, and hand the tablet to a customer to watch so I can point things out to them without having them breathing down my neck to see the little screen on the camera. -Features: It has the standard array of color palettes, i usually use iron, but it easy to switch and you can change the palette after you take the picture, which is nice. The camera does have a flashlight, it's not enough to really light your way in an attic or crawlspace, but it can give just enough light to allow for the normal camera to pick up a small amount of definition to overlay onto the thermal image. -The verdict: Not quite powerful enough for heavy industrial or scientific work, but is absolutely perfect for basic home inspections, water damage, automotive work, PC and server maintenance, and other standard thermal applications. You won't regret your purchase. I have used this exclusively since I got it and my FLIR units are just collecting dust. I am very happy with the camera, its build and image quality, and am yet to run into significant, or even minor issues. I would definitely recommend this camera as a technician's primary thermal imager.

Multi Use Thermal great for my old house
My previous thermal image. temp tool stopped working. After researching alternative solution, I decided on the Hikmicro. As a homeowner this handy tool has helped me identify HVAC duct leaks, leaks around windows, doors, outlets and exhaust fans. After identifying trouble areas, I was able to address the leaks and reduce excessing energy usage in our home. I have even identified wall studs. It is easy to use, can connect to WiFi and capture images to either review on the device or download with their software. Pros- Slim design, one hand use, loaded with features to customize to your situation, displays the current temp, low and high temps. Cons- Upfront cost, but the benefits of reducing excessive energy usage is the true value.

Great choice, covers all of the bases ~
The Good: compact, above average specs. in most categories for a pocket IR imaging camera at this price point. Rugged, fit & finish is very good, relatively fast boot time, lighter weight, clean sharp images, regular firmware updates & software support, several methods for wireless support, very good quality color display made with what appears to be a quality glass touch surface. Warranty coverage periods & categories are better than most others with local repair centers. Senior customer service representatives responded promptly to my inquiries & suggestions (USA based). Update: I found a fix for sloppy snapshot button. I applied a small dab of clear (or black) RTV silicone to the button, gently working it into the gap surrounding the button's edge. The carefully wipe away any excess. The next day after letting it dry the button worked with perfect resistance. I'd have to say that issue was the only major issue I've found with this camera. The Bad: shutter button has practically no resistance to arbitrarily triggering. Normal handling will trigger the shutter constantly (frustrating). Somewhat higher price point. No lens protection provided in the design (even though they’re recessed). Optional macro lens is now significantly more expensive then the competition at ($120.00, not tested yet). This camera doesn’t allow toggling on & off of floating screen digits above the ‘hot’, ‘cold’ & ‘center’ temperature points (request submitted via email & acknowledged. This would be a very useful enhancement). Nylon storage case's form factor is too tight, it's difficult to remove this camera without bending the soft case. There can be occasional annoying lag in the touchscreen response time for some functions. Opinion: The best choice for a quality, ultra-portable thermal imaging camera compared to the competition… at this time. I’ve only had the camera for about a week now. If anything, significantly changes, I’ll add it to this review. Overall: I’d recommend this purchase as the pros & cons seem to balance each other out. If you’re searching for “Pro Quality” the higher price point is a fair trade off. Update 1: Discovered Windows "Analyzer" software is unintuitive & can be frustrating. The iOS app is usable has a reasonable learning curve. Update 2: 11-23, I found a fix for the sloppy shutter button. Apply a small dab of clear or black RTV silicon rubber around & into the button's gap between the camera body gently working it while working the button up & down. Wipe away any excess and let it dry overnight. Problem solved; the button now works with minimum play as it should. No more false triggers.

Nice Camera, good customer service.
I bought the Hikmicro pocket 2 camera on sale November 2022 as upgrade to an older Flir one. I used it a few times and put it away for a few weeks. I may have charged the battery one time and then it appeared to no longer charge. The charge light would go from red, to alternating red/green. I don't have a need to use the camera every day, so I forgot about it for a while. Fast forward to October 2023 and I decided to reach out to customer support to see if I had any option for getting it repaired. Trevor from customer support offered to ship me a replacement camera and include a return label for my original camera. After a few back and forth emails, the new camera arrived. So far it has worked perfect. I mainly use the camera for hobby use working on cars, electronics, and finding insulation air leaks around the house. I'm happy with the quality for my purposes. I have nothing but good things to say about their customer support for quickly (and painlessly) taking care of my issues.

Connectivity and power saving problems
Recently, some firmware updates have made changes that impact the functionality of the pocket2 and make it difficult to use. One is connectivity and the pocket2 is now forcing the phone to disconnect from its own network to connect to the pocket2 "island network". The other is power saving and the power button once would put the device to sleep. But newer firmware prevents this. Hikmicro support is even falling short. After asking me to enable logging, then create the problem and send them the logs they were unable to open the files. For those that know, these were simple log files that are opened in notepad. Ive given them more than a month before leaving this review. I loved my povket2, and raved over it compared to my flir. But this level of perceived (or possibly real) ignorance is too much. I fear Hikmicro will grow to be a worse product than the flir i compared it to.

My daily Driver for Home Inspection
I have used this for a year and find this to be a great value for the frugal Home Inspector. This works as good as much more expensive brands and helps me with my daily job to prepare quality reports. This unit connects well, has been very durable traveling around in my tool belt. Start up is a little slow but it is quickly responsive to controls, easy to use and the instructions were adequate. Great size for carrying around on a job site.

Impressive
I’m A retired veterinarian, and I found thermal cameras are extremely useful in detecting some problems in dogs; I’m also using it for the traditional application of looking for heat loss in my house and the systems in it. I am unexpectedly impressed with this little camera. The directions are excellent and easy to follow, activity to my iPhone was fast and intuitive, and the image quality is really good. This is the third thermal camera I’ve tried, with the first two being FLIR and TOPDON. Because it’s simple and straightforward, this camera is extremely easy to use. It’s a keeper. The value is really outstanding.

Five Stars, but NOT for Amazon!
I bought this device as a replacement for a bad Flir. ( bad quality, bad performance). This piece is brilliant. I just bought it and made some tests. It works great, highest quality of video quality. I love the PIP option. I hope this device will last a long time. @Amazon, it is a Bull***t when customers want to chat with Amazon, that they talk to an Automat. I want to praise or complain to a living person not to an Automat. Also it's a lie when one gets a message saying: your order has been delivered. Nothing was delivered. " Chatted " with Amazon and got the answer that I have to wait for 24 hours more before I can ask where the package is. you have to send the message when the Order is delivered, but not days upfront.

I bought this for one specific feature: it works as a "web cam" UVC on Mac computers
This is an excellent full-featured thermal camera. It's expensive, but in my view represents reasonable value. But I bought this for one specific feature. Out-of-the-box without any modifications I can use it with my MacBook to "screen cast" to a projector when giving public talks. One switches on the camera and then plugs in the camera using the cable provided. One is then prompted on the camera to connect using a USB Cast Screen mode or USB Disk mode. Choosing Cast Screen the device functions as a web-cam (a UVC - universal video camera). One can then view the screen of the device on the computer or projector using VLC Media player or Quicktime. I am sure the analysis software is great for professional surveyors, but the ability to "just work" on a Mac without any specific software requirements is likely to make this camera useful for a very long time.

Sehr gut
Naja.

Bien cordialement.

Fantastic value in a pocket thermal imager
Great performance in a convenient shirt pocket size. I was hesitant about the focus-free lens after using a more expensive one where I could dial in the focus, but it works well. Camera interface is satisfactory, and the firmware continues to be updated to improve usability. The latest update improves the swipe-down menu performance. The free analysis software is fantastic. You don't need to worry about the in-camera settings because nearly all of them can be changed after using the desktop software, especially the fusion image alignment with the thermal image and the visible light image. The only thing I couldn't change afterwards was the upper end temperature sensitivity, so if you are trying to take an image of a high temperature source, be sure to change to the extended temperature range first before taking images. Other notable features: The remote view/control operation using a tablet or phone, which even includes 2-way voice communication - a feature not mentioned in the brochure, but is described in the manual. The video mode is great but less useful for analysis. Both in regular imaging mode and video mode the camera will pause briefly to calibrate. This happens with most thermal cameras and helps maintain its accuracy. The resolution is good, and the sensitivity is high so you can see small temperature differentials. It's a powerful tool, and as with any tool, users should learn the basics of thermal imaging physics in order to make the most of it. Overall, I'm suitably impressed by the form factor, performance, and value, and highly recommend it for anyone involved in building science, inspection, or energy performance.
