Does this help with lateral stability?

This AFO brace did not give me lateral stability. You would have to use an ankle brace for that type of support. The stirrup type of ankle brace can get "bulky" feeling with certain types of shoe. Good luck on your search!

can you drive a car with this on?

You can, but it is so simple to just unhook, I don't usually drive with it attached.

Does the ankle attachment come in a flesh color?

I do not believe the ankle attachment comes in a flesh color. If they do come out with one in a flesh color, I would buy it.
