Is the lid insulated?

The lid is plastic. The mug does a pretty good job of keeping coffee hot.

What is the practical capacity of the 12 oz mug ?

I got the 24 oz because I like 2 cups of coffee in the morning and with this cup it keeps that amount of coffee hot hot hot!. The whole point for me was keeping my coffee caliente. But if you drink less than then 12 oz works well too. Great top so you can travel with it . Highly recommend !!! Also can use for cold beverages but for me it was coffee and it has a great big handle which makes it comfortable to hold.

For the 24 ounce 2021 model, does the lid have a slide closure like in the stores?

I have one that is two years old and it has the slider lid.
