Product description Tazah Ground Sumac Tazah Ground Sumac is a dark red spice that is derived from the sumac berry bush, commonly grown throughout the Middle East. Made by grinding the dried berries from the sumac shrub, this spice has a sour note that is similar to a combination of lemon and vinegar, with a slightly bitter finish. Tazah Ground Sumac is predominantly used in Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and North African cuisine to add a unique and tangy flavor to various dishes. History of Sumac Sumac has a long history of use as a spice and medicine, dating back to ancient times. The sumac berry bush is believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region, and it has been used in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine for centuries. The Romans used sumac as a souring agent in their dishes, and the ancient Greeks used it as a remedy for digestive issues. In addition to its culinary uses, sumac was also used for medicinal purposes in traditional medicine. Today, sumac remains a popular spice in many Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes, and it has gained popularity in other parts of the world for its unique flavor and health benefits. What is Sumac ideal for? Sumac is a versatile spice that can be used in many ways in the kitchen. Its sour, tangy flavor pairs well with meats, fish, vegetables, and grains, making it a great addition to marinades, dressings, dry rubs, and seasoning blends. Sumac can also be sprinkled on top of dips, hummus, or salads for an extra burst of flavor. In Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, sumac is a popular seasoning for grilled meats, such as kabobs, and it is often used in rice dishes and stews. Sumac is also a key ingredient in fattoush salad, a Lebanese salad made with fresh vegetables, pita chips, and a tangy sumac dressing. When using sumac, start with a small amount and add more to taste, as it has a potent flavor. Sumac can also be combined with other spices, such as cumin and coriander, for a unique and delicious blend. Sumac Goes Well With Review: Great Taste - This sumac is aromatic and very flavorful with beautiful citrus notes. Review: Absolutely delicious!!!!!! - This is my go to seasoning for literally every savory food I eat now. I even ate spoonfuls of it by itself because itโs got such a tart fragrant taste lol. Iโm sure Iโm not using this as intended but itโs so versatile it can be put on anything! My favorite way to use it is directly on my salads. I also put this on olive oil and mix it up and make a dressing for chicken or fish. Goes great on grapefruit as well. I went through the whole jar in 3 weeks. And itโs a massive jar of product for the price - I was surprised at how much they give you! High quality, pure berry goodness. No weird ingredients. Love this :)

I taste cinnamon, but it's not listed
This tastes pretty good, but I'm 90% sure it has a large cinnamon content despite not being listed. I got the 16 oz jar because the last brand of sumac I'd gotten came in a bag and was difficult to reseal particularly with wet hands while cooking. I haven't cooked with this yet, but a quick smell and tasting a few pinches has me convinced this is somewhere between 1/8th and 1/3 cinnamon. It tastes pretty good and pretty fresh, I often combine cinnamon with sumac, but feel if that's what this is it should absolutely say so. If someone is allergic to cinnamon, I'd discourage this product. The ingredient list is identical to the one in the ad, but I don't believe them. I've used another brand of ground sumac and grew up sucking on sumac berries at the family farm up North. In theory, I should know sumac pretty freaking well. This lacks some of the expected tartness. While tasting, it does have an initial sour/salivary response, but the mouth is left feeling somewhat clammy as it would from sampling cinnamon or cumin, that didn't happen with other ground sumac I'm familiar with.

Great sumac
It's fresh, has beautiful color, and tastes really good. I find buying sumac tricky, because there is no way of telling if it's good or bad until you actually taste it! This one I'll definitely be ordering again -and you get a pretty generous amount for the money too. Good stuff.

Bad quality
Not happy with this product. I kept it pass return window unopened as I was saving it for a special recipe. Make sure to try products that you receive right away. There is gritty (sand) feel to it. I couldn't understand why this sumac was not red but brown. Turns out it has vegetable oil and salt in it. ๐
