No Ego: How Leaders Can Cut the Cost of Workplace Drama, End Entitlement, and Drive Big Results Review: Freaking Brilliant and So Clear and Intutive- You'll Wonder Why You Didn't Think of This Yourself - Freaking Brilliant as always! I heard Cy speak at SHRM 2017 and very quickly bought her books and I am applying the (very easy to understand) principles at work. I finished the book this week and it was a series of wonderful revelations. And a lot of the revelations came with validation. I have been skeptical of employee engagement surveys for a long time, stating that they ‘held us hostage’ and that ‘complainers are going to complain no matter what we do’ And ‘why are we asking everyone what they think, why don’t we just survey the people who are the best performers’ and ‘not all turnover is bad turnover’. For this I was told I was a ‘bad’ HR person. Hearing my thoughts, (expressed so well) was wonderful in making me feel that I am not alone. I have been also using some of the phrases and lessons from the book. When someone starts going on an ego trip, I put the brakes on the bus, and ask, ‘lets recap the things we know are true’. ‘What you are saying is that based on the behaviors exhibited, Jane is not accepting her new reality’. Asking for people’s buy in. I talk about this in meetings and everyone is all, “Wow that’s brilliant” or “You handled the situation so well” or “Thanks for getting the meeting back on track so quickly” So I have to say, the SHRM meeting hooked me initially, but now that I am two books in “Reality Based Leadership” and “No Ego” I’m a #TrueRBLeiver Review: Love! - Cy is incredible. Although I’m not in the medical industry, her lessons are always relatable and so helpful especially when leading a team!

Freaking Brilliant and So Clear and Intutive- You'll Wonder Why You Didn't Think of This Yourself
Freaking Brilliant as always! I heard Cy speak at SHRM 2017 and very quickly bought her books and I am applying the (very easy to understand) principles at work. I finished the book this week and it was a series of wonderful revelations. And a lot of the revelations came with validation. Mind blowing and brilliant!
After I listened to a third of the book on Audible, I then purchased the hard copy and several of Wakeman's other books. I've already read it several times and shared it with colleagues. I wish I would have read this YEARS ago!

Quick practical advice
This was a quick read and I would highly recommend it to anyone whose organization is facing rapid change. I am in I.T. and Cy offers no-nonsense scripts and practical advice for getting team members “on the bus” and advocating for change, or transitioning “off the bus” and onto another team. Change is here, it is not optional, and if the change has really come as a major shock than you are likely not keeping up with the Industry like you should. Great insights on things like the open door policy, dealing with whiners, and putting an end to the drama. I’d also recommend Cy’s podcast “No Ego” which prompted me to get the book.

A book for high accountables or those that want to be
Cy never disappoints. The book is a great reminder about how we handle the complicated situations life throws at us. She includes several useful tools that individual contributors or managers can use to support their team.

Simply Amazing!
Cy Wakeman's philosophy is life changing! I came across Cy a few years ago at an HR conference and have been hooked every since. Her philosophy is very "real" and practical to apply. It is just common sense - you can't argue with it - but it produces amazing results! Common sense isn't common so it is amazing how many team members could benefit from this if they just dropped their ego and were open to listening and learning. Diffusing drama, increasing accountability and focusing to business readiness will truly help you be more successful both professionally and personally. You need to read all of her books, especially her most recent one No Ego - there are very applicable tools in there to assist - Go Cy!

Cy Does it Again...No Ego is a Workplace Game Changer
I have read Cy's books and leveraged her expertise in removing drama in the workplace for more than ten years. Bottom line..it works. As an executive spending a career cultivating cultures from single sites locations to global footprints I have seen a lot...the good, the bad and even ugly. Everyone loves when team work well together, are highly engaged and make things happen. Everyone gets exhausted and weighted down by drama and ego at work and nobody wins. Drama and entitlement consumes, time, energy and has real bottom line financial impact to everyone not just the company. The traditional ways we attempt to change the game simply don't work. Changing long evolved mindset and enabled cultures won't be easy, but it can be done. Cy's books teach us how. No Ego in another dive into the subconscious asking us not to believe everything we think and dive into self reflection and end the story telling that feeds the ego. Even after years practicing and reinforcing what I've learned, my ego needed a tune up. Well done and hats off to Cy for making us better people leaders, colleagues and employees.

Some good advice and tips for anyone who leads a team.
Recommended by our district manager for us pharmacy managers. As a manager for about 20 years I found 1/3 to be review, disagreed with about 1/3, and found about 1/3 to be insightful.

No Ego: How Leaders Can Cut the Cost of Workplace Drama, End Entitlement, and Drive Big Results Fantastic book challenging the traditional beliefs on employee engagement. Challenging traditionalist leaders and explaining why it is time to move on and take on alternative takes on employee engagement, this book coaches on how to ditch the drama and start building a No Ego organization.
