Very good, changed my life
I live in a small flat so I can't say how this works for houses, but right now the extender is 10 metres from the router and the lights are always green, which means the signal is excellent. Supposedly, this thing doesn't improve the speed of the connection and that's probably true but once my signal jumped from 1-2 bars to 5, I connect much faster and I don't have to constantly troubleshoot the connection. My laptop always struggled to connect in this flat, my flatmates' too, so we thought it's a problem with the router, but now it looks like it was the signal. Of course, the speed during the day depends on very many factors and this box isn't a cure for all of them, don't even think that it is, but now in my flat we can stream movies without a problem with just standard broadband (not fibre), at only 8 mega. Fibre might give you 30 mega and that might not even work as well as it should, but before you change the router or your internet provider, try this little box. I was SO frustrated these past several years with my crappy connection, many times I wanted to throw my laptop out the window because it was configured properly but just wouldn't work as it should, but now I don't have this problem anymore. Hallelujah. The instructions say that this box should be relatively close to the router but mine is at 10 metres away, separated from the router by a fridge and a wall and furniture, and it still works perfect. I've had it for several months now and never had any issues. It's easy to install, just follow the simple instructions. Just make sure you do have the kind of connection that is required, read the description of this product before you buy it and check your connection specifications in your computer, because if you don't, you might not be able to use this extender or the installation will be more difficult. I found a manual for my router, also Netgear, and double-checked with an illustration that I do indeed have the WPS button on the router. From then on everything was a piece of cake - and I'm a woman who knows nothing about technology so that tells you something. I can't recommend it enough. It's a life saver, definitely worth the price.

Setup and sorted in the time my morning coffee perculated :-)
Recently changed Broadband providers (protest vote!) and the new router was obviously not as powerful as the old provider (which was iffy!). C shaped house and the main bedroom is the further away and got the most walls between it and main router (which can't be changed due to main phone line socket location). In the bedroom the TV and our phones had poor Wifi connection (1 bar and dropping out completely which then ate our data), instead of watching TV in bed we spent more time watching a circle on the screen whilst film loaded which only induced anger and frustration rather than a nice way to drop off to sleep! Enter the NETGEAR WiFi Booster EX3110! Having read the rave reviews and Amazon selling it at a reduced price of ยฃ21.99 it was a no brainer. Oh my days! Setup and connected whilst my morning coffee percolated! Literally - I am NOT exaggerating! Plugged it in next to main router (as per instructions), connected to main router via WPS button to both 2ghz and 5ghz circuits (didn't even know we had 5ghz until I followed instructions which was basically, hit the WPS buttons again to connect to 5ghz, if it connects you have it, if it doesn't, you don't!) The instructions were clear and easy to follow (although I only used the WPS instructions not the more detailed alternative) Switched it off, plugged it in on the landing midway between main bedroom and main router, connected TV & phones in bedroom to 5ghz_ext wifi (you enter the same password that you use on the main router) and TAR DAR! NO CIRCLE AND TV responded SO much faster when choosing different streaming apps. Functionality 5* Dual Band Support 5* Compatible 5* Range is excellent - 5 bars on TV and phone wifi (and rather cleverly, my phone automatically connects to main router when I'm downstairs - wizardry because I haven't set it to this, it just does!) So no faffing about there! Don't even think about it! Just buy one. We've put up with poor WIFi connection for years upstairs which got worse when we changed providers and forced us down the booster router (I was alway sceptical - not any more!)

Does exactly as expected
So far so good. Very very easy to set up. Worked first time with Virgin Media Hub 3. Plug in allow to power up and allow power led to go green. Press WPS on router then asap WPS on extender. Extender locates router, led goes green. Router then sends info to extender plug and internet led goes green. Uses your set SSID and sticks EXT on the end. Great dual band functionality and have managed to use the extender to increase my home security smart CCTV, plugs and lights reliability. Where before they would drop the signal and only use low quality settings. I've asked seller to find power consumption for this unit as can't find it anywhere in the specs or online.

No more weak Wi-Fi !
This is a very good device for extending a Wi-Fi signal. I live in a stone-built building, and getting a good Wi-Fi signal through the walls to other rooms can be difficult. Usually, the signal in other rooms is weak - sometimes only 1-bar. But this booster has raised the signal in these rooms to maximum strength. It's very easy to set up using WPS (although you can also set it up without the use of WPS, using a web browser). When first switched on, in the same room as your router (initially), the power LED will light up amber to begin with and will change to green within about 60 seconds. Then, just connect the booster to the router by pressing the WPS buttons - firstly on the booster and secondly on the router. (I am using a Sky hub with WPS.) On each of your devices (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc) open the Options controls, select Wi-Fi, and change your provider's broadband code to the same code containing the _EXT extension. You'll need your broadband password for doing this. It's usually on the network card that came with the router. Once set-up has been completed, the booster should then be re-located approximately midway between the router and the devices requiring the boosted signal. At least one of these devices in the other rooms needs to be switched on, otherwise the green Devices LED on the booster will not switch on. (These devices can be switched on and off as required after the re-location procedure has been completed.) Following the professional practice of locating Wi-Fi repeaters fairly high up, I've positioned the Netgear booster and power socket on the wall just over 183 cm (6 ft) above floor level, rather than at a low-level wall socket. (I tried a low-level power socket, but it didn't work there. It seems to work best higher up.) There may be a delay of about 60 to 90 seconds for the booster to reactivate if it is switched off for any reason (e.g. to move it elsewhere), and after being switched on again. In some cases, it may be necessary to re-enter the _EXT code on your devices, but only until the booster is finally located in the ideal position where it can remain switched on permanently. Incidentally, according to the broadband provider's technical support, the main router should not be switched off at any time, with or without this booster. I've found this to be a very useful device, and I can now enjoy a strong Wi-Fi signal in rooms where previously the signal was very weak. The Wifi Analyzer app (not Netgear's similar app) indicates that the signal strength has changed from poor to best strength. These apps can be downloaded from Google Play.

NETGEAR EX2700-100UKS 300 Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender (Wi-Fi Booster) Silver- EXCELLENT!
NETGEAR EX2700-100UKS 300 Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender (Wi-Fi Booster) Silver Sold and Dispatched by Amazon I live in a big house with ground floor, floor 1 and floor 2. The original internet router given by my Internet Service Provider, was too far away from my devices (laptop, smartphone) when I was on the top floor. I was getting 1 bar internet signal and many of the times no signal/internet at all! Then, I knew I had to get a Wi-Fi extender and found this!- The "#1 Best Seller in Wireless Access Points" on Amazon and I agree. The item was delivered quick and packed adequately. It's a good size and fits a UK 3-pin socket. Installation was easy-peasy. All I had to do was plug it close to my current router, switch it on, and press the "WPS" on the Wi-Fi extender and then press the "WPS" on the router (you can also connect via browser. Instructions given). Waited a minute and it was connected. Then, I unplugged the Wi-Fi extender and moved it to a location where the Wi-Fi signal is weak (top floor). Then, I had to connect my devices (smartphone, laptop...) by searching for the Wi-Fi device and connecting to it... The Wi-Fi-Extender would be named [***Your existing Wi-Fi network name***_EXT]. For example, "TalkTalk1234_EXT". You'll be asked to enter password your current Wi-Fi password. All of this (the name and the password to access the Extender can be changed via [www. mywifiext.net]. Username: admin, Password: password. This can be changed to. Note, you must be connected to the extender to change these settings. All of these instructions are included. So, I connected the extender on the top floor (where it was 0-1 bar signal with the previous router) and the internet was good for a few minutes. I then realise that although I had excellent/highest signal, Internet was not working. Many others experienced this problem and returned it. I then plugged the extender on the 1st floor, where the signal would normally be 2-3 bars with the router. Then, it worked. No internet problem or loss of connection for more than a month. I RECOMMEND PLACING THE EXTENDER IN AN AREA WHERE YOU WOULD NORMALLY GET 2-3 SIGNAL BAR STRENGTH IF YOU WERE USING YOUR ROUTER PROVIDED BY YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER. If you place the extender in an area where you normally get NO Wi-Fi signal or only 1 bar (weak) signal, it will not work. You can check this by using your smartphone- move to a location where you get 'medium signal' when connect to your main router, and then place the extender there. So I placed mine on the 1st floor instead of the top floor. Works brilliantly. No problems. If your device does not support Wi-Fi but can have internet on it, then you can get an Ethernet cable and plug it into the Ethernet port located at the bottom of the extender and connect it to your device. When I go to sleep, I sometimes switch the extender off. Next morning, put it back on, No problem (no setting the extender all over again or anything. Turns on within a minute.) 100% recommend this Wi-Fi Extender. I will give an update after a year. And remember, when buying electrical devices (and even other expensive items) such as smartphones, laptops, network adapters, DVD players, even USBs, etc... Always buy from "Sold and Dispatched by Amazon". - avoid third party sellers and even "fulfilled" sellers as it would reduce the chance of you getting a defect, less hassle if a problem was to occur and getting a genuine product. -----------UPDATE-------------(After 1 year) Nothing to report other than it's work absolutely fine. I'm getting the same Internet speed as if I was connected to the main router. I have changed the log-in password for the Extender and the main router- which I recommend everyone doing to increase security. : If you let ANYONE use your Wifi (i.e. your friend), they can use the default log-in info and change the router settings and mess things up- then you have to call out a network engineer to fix it= incur costs. Also, anyone would be able to block you from the Wifi using the device's Media Access Control (MAC) address, which is a unique identifier for a network device. This Extender has the ability to do this via an Access Control List (ACL). Sounds complicated but it can be done. All good so far. Internet connection never went down. Still recommend. ------------------------------------- Any questions regarding about this item, please leave a comment and I'll get back to you ASAP. I really hope this helps you :)

Kept restarting at random - replacement did the same
Setup was simple and everything seemed fine for a little while, however very quickly I noticed that the Extender would just restart itself at random, as if it had been physically switched off at the plug and turned back on. I tried this in multiple plug sockets just in case. I tried both the simple WPS setup and the more comprehensive online setup but encountered the problem regardless. Even after updating the firmware and multiple factory resets, the problem still persisted. I sent i back and got a replacement which had the exact same problem. Eventually Netgear's support exhausted their options and suggested I sent it back for a refund. Maybe I just got incredibly unlucky but I feel like getting two seemingly faulty units in a row is a bit too much of a coincidence. As such I absolutely can't recommend this as sadly from my experience it just wasn't fit for purpose at all. It technically worked but it's useless if it's constantly restarting itself and dropping the connection whenever it does.

Great Device used on 5Ghz connection. Revised following firmware update.
I was a little sceptical about getting this. I have just moved my desktop PC from one bedroom to another in a 2-bedroom flat. In the first bedroom I was getting connection download speeds of 130+Mbps with a automatic 5Ghz connection. On moving to the second bedroom, just 6 feet from the first, my download speed dropped to 20Mbps with a 2.4Ghz connection. I set up the Netgear EX3110 using the instructions provided for WPS connection. NB: ensure to run the procedure twice as instructed to configure for both the 2. 4Ghz and 5Ghz operation. Once setup I moved the extender to a socket close to my PC inside a utility cupboard. The results at the new PC location are very good when connecting to the _5GEXT option. Speed without Extender (download) 2.4Ghz 19.68Mbps 5Ghz 50.40Mbps Speed with Extender (download) 2.4Ghz 24.57Mbps 5Ghz 80.1Mbps The PC automatically connects directly to the router on 2.4Ghz line and occasionally on the 5Ghz line and I must manual select the _5EXT or _2GEXT options from the system tray WiFi list. This is a bit annoying, and Iโve not been able to make this happen automatically even though Iโve set to connect automatically. For the money this a great extender and I am very pleased with it. After writing the above review I found that by logging in to the device I was able to download new firmware. Following this the device does automatically connect to the _5GEXT. Also found that putting my USB Wi-Fi dongle on a USB extender the USB port speeds improved and became very reliable. Now set to 5stars.

Super easy setup and extended the wireless cover of the blind spot
I needed something to extend my wifi coverage to a bedroom at the far end of the house. I managed to set this up in less than 5 mins from unboxing the netgear. I plugged it into a wall socket close to my main router (in the kitchen), switch it on till the power light stopped blinking, press the WPS switch on the netgear and the WPS button on my router to get the two talking. Once the WPS light turn green and stopped blinking it's all set up. It has the wifi name the same as my home wifi plus the _EXT to it. Share the same password too. I took the "set-up ready" netgear to a socket close to my bedroom, plugged it in and it worked!. Perfect. No more wifi blindspot.

It served the purpose, nice product
Easy to install as my wifi router is of same brand, followed the instructions provided, need to have little patience until the led glows to green that to first time only. Overall experience is nice, product serve the purpose as network signal strength in my other room is excellent now..
