Pokemon: Deluxe Essential Handbook

This little, thick, PACKED, colourful book is AMAZING!! Bought for my 10yr old son who absolutely LOVES it! Beautifully displays over 700 pokemon with a mini guide to all the stats+facts for each one, ie: pokemon type, moves, description etc. An absolute bargain & joy for any interested pokemon fan to study or use as reference or simply just to pour through the colourful pages & enjoy looking at them all... Best present for a boy who had a FAB school report & deserved a lovely gift from Mum..! -Pokemon fans will LOVE this, its fab & a bargain ;)

This handbook is currently the go to reading book for both my Pokemon obsessed boys at bedtime. High quality images, good short descriptions and moves are just what my young boys want to hear. We own several Pokemon books including the high quality Pokemon Encyclopedia but this is the book my boys (aged 3 and 5) keep coming back to. To give you an idea of how popular it is in my household we had to buy a second copy so they can both use it at the same time.

My children bought this for their Dad for Christmas who catches Pokemon for them, but I'm guessing with the aim that the book would actually be for them. All three of my children LOVE this book (age 5,8,10) and there hasn't been a day since Christmas that one of them isn't reading it or using it as reference for their own drawings. I've seen another review state that their children flip pages and have battles based on the character they land on and that's exactly what my 3 children do. The book itself is such good quality, I bought the paper back and it's still in excellent condition. I can't say I'm a Pokemon fan myself, but I'd say this was worth every penny I spent on it!

I purchased 2 of these. One for myself and one for my 11-year-old cousin. He absolutely love it! Even though his English isn't very good (we're Danish) so he can't read all of it, he can still see the names and evolutions of all the Pokemon, and see what generation they belong to. I really like it too but I am subtracting a star because I really think it would have been much better if the pokemon had been arranged by number rather than alphabetically. This is a rather big "problem" but it is also the only problem for me with this book.

I don't think I've ever bothered to write a positive review before, but my 6 year old son is so happy with this book I felt I had to let everyone know! It goes way beyond the Pokémon found on "Go" and helps teach the whole family about the different evolutions & gens. We got it as a cheap Christmas filler present, but it has been a raging success, by far the most used present of the year. He is absolutely Pokémon obsessed and goes to bed reading it every night (never usually reads to himself!). He even took it to school yesterday for World Book Day AND remembered to bring it home!! A brilliant buy, highly recommended.

Brilliant value, and nicely produced. My ten year old says it's brilliant, and it tells you all about the different Pokemon. He also likes the fact that it tells you the order in which Pokemon evolve. Finally, he loves the pictures and the general look and feel. So, although I don't really 'do' Pokemon myself, I have no hesitation in recommending this. It's also a bargain!

Absolutely fabulous! This is that good, that I wish I had bought one for myself too! The pictures are big and vibrant, with information gallore on each Pokemon. Bought as a Christmas present for my 5 year old son who has recently been introduced to the world of Pokemon, I just know he's going to love this! For a fiver, it is 'Essential' for any Pokemon fan, young or old- you really can't go wrong!

I got this for my 5 year old nephew for Christmas since he loves Pokémon now after playing Pokémon go non stop for months. I noticed that he mainly liked to just look at the Pokémon in kids magazines and see how the names are pronounced and this was perfect for that. Product just as described very colourful and fun pages for little ones as you can see in the picture and even debating getting one for my 16 year old self .

Must have for Pokemon lovers!!! This book has everything you need to know about a Pokemon. I bought this a few years ago and its still in perfect condition! Best buy for kids who love Pokemon!

Il testo è in inglese, ma l'ho voluto acquistare comunque perchè mi intrigava molto avere in un unico volume tutti i pokemon dalla prima alla sesta generazione. Il mio voto è solo di 3 stelle perchè i Pokemon sono elencati in ordine alfabetico e questo a mio dire è un po' scomodo e confusionario perché ho sempre preferito la divisione a generazioni, insomma secondo l'ordine del Pokedex. l'altra pecca è che per ogni pokemon non ci sono grandi descrizioni, anzi giusto poche righe per descriverlo, il tipo e la regione da cui proviene. Direi che è più adatto per i bambini perchè ci sono belle immagini per ogni pokemon ed è molto carino da sfogliare (infati il mio nipotino ne va matto).

Ordered this for our older son who along with all his little buddies at school recently became obsessed with Pokemon. He's got a whole bunch of the cards now, but wanted a book - he's more interested in the characters themselves than the cards and their gaming abilities. This book is just what it says - the essential handbook! It's as much help to us as parents, to know what the kids are on about when they talk Pokemon! There are over 700 Pokemon characters featured in this book, and after a bit of Pokemon basics in the book, you'll learn information about each character such as their: - Name - Pronunciation of the name - Possible moves - Description (thankfully bigger print than on the cards!) - Evolution - Mega Evolution - Type - Region - Height & Weight Overall, this is simply a must-buy if you have a new or little Pokemon lover in your house - this book is literally inseperable from our 6 year old's hands, he sleeps with it and takes it everywhere with him! Full on 5 star stuff, and at a great price considering how priceless it is to it's owner! :) Hope that helps.

My son loves this book. It contains all sorts of bits and pieces about the Pokemon characters. I don't think it really helps in anyway with actually playing the game, but it's a nice addition to any Pokemon fan's collection. I should read this book myself and increase my knowledge of Pokemon, that way when my son is talking to me about it I won't think he's speaking Greek (which wouldn't be a problem if I'm Greek, but I'm not). Hmmm, do you think citizens of Greece have a similar saying, like "That guy was talking to me about rocket science but it all sounded like <insert some other language than Greek here> to me"? If you're Greek, please leave a comment, I'd really like to know. And if you are Greek, you'll be happy to know that your child will love this book if you get it for them. I've read other reviews saying the book will start to fall apart quickly, but my son hasn't abused his enough yet. I'm sure after a few trips in his backpack time will tell. I'll post a follow-up review and let you know. ***UPDATE 2/26/2016*** I'm happy to report that after hauling this thing around in his backpack since Christmas, this book is still holding together very well. No pages have fallen out, the spine isn't broken, the cover is still intact, etc... This book still gets frequent use, because my son tries to convince me daily that reading this should count toward his 30 minutes-of-reading-at-home requirement.
