Trรจs bien - Kloo Race to Paris
My daughter (who's 8) and I have just played 'Kloo Race to Paris' for the first time and loved it. She really enjoyed that she could score points with each card she played, and also additional points by knowing the meaning. It was great that as the word bank grew, she was able to be more and more successful at this second element, and could subsequently win points with cards that couldn't initially be translated. She liked it when I landed on a hotel square and couldn't translate something, and therefore went backwards! When we'd finished playing she said 'can we use a different deck next time? '. I'm really thrilled she enjoyed it and wants to play again. We BOTH learnt something and I found the phonetic pronunciation really helpful - I always faltered a little with this at school! I like the fact that although we have the game board we could easily just play with cards & like the suggested card games on your website videos. l think this game format is a fantastic way of learning & so much more fun & interesting than workbooks or DVDs (too passive!). And one 'lap' of the gameboard didn't take too long; so easily retained my daughter's interest until she'd made it to Paris! I'm looking forward to playing again; I can see why it's won so many awards!

however when I purchased KLOO's Learn to Speak French Language Board Game - Race to Paris they were actually really happy! This
It has often made my unpopular with my children that I always sneak in the odd educational board game, however when I purchased KLOO's Learn to Speak French Language Board Game - Race to Paris they were actually really happy! This is probably the best educational game we own and I am seriously pleased that I brought it. Learning languages is an important skill so I decided they could start with French as they have some knowledge from school. I was also interested to see how the Kloo game which is a completely different approach to how languages are taught is schools would work for my children. The game itself has a standard counter / squares format and you have to race to the centre of the board using cards to make sentences as you go. There are special squares that add to the fun by bringing new elements into play, but if you want you can ignore these for a slightly quicker game. I think by now we have played it every which way possible and we still love it. The children get really competitive, and this means they are switched on and learning because they need to try and remember the vocabulary translations in order to score the most points. There are 4 different decks of cards and essentially you can play with any number of decks, opting for a broad learning experience or focusing in on one area, the choice is yours. The game is really versatile and even with a great set of rules the children were suggesting new ways to use the board and cards, the best thing being they are continually learning and with repetition it started to stick really quickly. We even had the odd french sentence spoken out of context at the dinner table or in the car. If you find the rules difficult, which to be fair we didn't at all, but if you do, there is a great little video on their website to help you out. The game has different options which mean you can have a shorter game or longer depending on your time limits, and the fact that my children often opted to play the longest version speaks volumes about the quality and interest levels of the game. There is no doubt their french has improved as a direct result of this game, and when the comment was made at parents evening I was straight in recommending the Kloo products to the teachers as a more modern enlightened way of teaching a foreign language. Whether she will take my advice remains to be seen, but my children have definitely benefited and improved their french thanks to this game.

Great game - really works.
This is a great game for learning. It is probably best for beginners up to intermediate level. My son is doing GCSE this year and he is both enjoying it and finding it useful. It is a fun way to do some revision as well as learning new vocabulary. By making the sentences it helps with the word order, eg adjectives after the verbs, and the basic set can be expanded to practise different tenses. With repetition the speaking of French seems more and more natural and shyness about speaking a new language will be reduced. We also use it to help writing by making the sentences, translating them then writing them out in French to improve spelling. It is not in itself a French course, but is a very useful addition to the armoury, and one that our son plays with us very willingly, and that is not something we can say about all his studying. I am glad we bought it, and for the price of less than one lesson with a private teacher it is well worth the money.

Learn to put a sentence together
This product is great. It is probably best suited to 10 years plus as my son is 7 and learns the language a different way. However it is ideal for those who have done french in school a long time ago. My husband and myself use it to remember how to put sentences together. It is a very enjoyable way to spend an evening yet with a competitive edge. My son's french teacher has also bought it to teach her husband french!!! I would think it is suitable for a beginner to learn french with Kloo. It is a great idea, very simple and if you had older kids it would be a fun family game. The phonics use to pronounce the words are quite good, which is a great help. I love the idea of the words translated at the bottom of other cards as you are constantly learning even when you are waiting for your turn in the game. Go out and buy it you wont regret it!!!!!!

Revision but not as we normally know it
Iโm not a beginner but I would think it could be very helpful. The fact that itโs a board game makes learning much more entertaining, Iโm using it to wake up very rusty French and whilst I know most if not all the vocabulary it is making it active rather than passive knowledge.

Fantastic game - I hope they bring out more!
Absolutely fantastic game! My daughter's dad speaks french and my daughter is learning it, so when he comes round we play this. It's great fun, and excellent for learning french! I really hope they bring out new packs that you can add! It says in the instructions that you are not supposed to mix up the 4 card decks, but last night we played with 2 decks up and it was even more fun than usual - you still create grammatically correct sentences, but now they can be quite bizarre and hilarious. Like for example "we spoke to the happy biscuit." etc. My daughter had extra fun always trying to choose the cards that would make the most bizarre sentences. :D

Race to Paris and learn to speak french along the way!
โRace to Parisโ is a fun way to learn the basics of the French language. The game involves a race around France to reach Paris. The board game format encourages all the family to join in and develop language skills and confidence. We like the way that the categories in the four decks of cards provided are all practical and relate to everyday themes. It is also helpful that each french word appears randomly at the bottom of another card with a translation. Our children love playing โRace to Parisโ and it is a great game for them to play as they are both starting to learn French at school. They can read the pronunciation clues on the cards and really enjoy making up sentences in French! We have all become more confident in our French language skills as a result of playing this game together.

Super and not frustrating.
Great game and learning tool, accessible for the whole family. Follow the rules and you make a sensical sentence every time. Would 100% buy expansion decks. Very well conceived and executed. Good value. Portable (we take decks to restaurants to play while waiting for our orders). To prove Iโm a real person, not AI, I can confirm this game contains zero cards sets that would allow a user to make a sentence about Purple Pirates eating cream cheese in a cartoon kayak. Prove me wrong. :-)

Trop complique
Tellement complique que je n'ai toujours pas compris comment รงa se joue. Alors pour les enfants... Impossible de jouer sans un adulte.

An awesome way to get those beginning a new language to engaged and having FUN!
My students (junior high) tried out a game for me to see if it was something they could be interested in. Here's what they thought: PROS -good value for the money as it comes with 4 decks of Kloo language cards (I had explained to them how much the game costs and how much the decks cost. Also, that their review of it would determine my spending money to buy more. They are BRUTALLY honest when it comes to telling me if something is engaging or not and/or worth spending time AND money on). -4 largish decks meant that they could use just the one and then could switch it up when they had thoroughly learned the one, so they wouldn't get bored too fast. -it works well to last just a short while or can lost longer...so they aren't bored. -makes for a nice change to learn independently -they like the squares that allowed them to challenge their classmates (I have a REALLY competitive bunch this year) -the game gave different ways to play, again, they wouldn't get bored too easily (noticing a theme happening here with my students...) -any one can play, no matter their level of French (i.e. mixed levels can play together) -you can play with just the decks and break down into smaller groups -(this PRO is mine) they have free extension cards and a vocab list on their website CONS -only 4 player pieces, which means either adding pieces from other game sets or buying multiple game boards (which can be limiting given the budgets teachers are given) to have a whole classroom playing. -"what about more decks?" was a question one of my students asked. "Depending on how often we play, won't we eventually memorize all the decks?" 'YAY! That would be great', I thought. But it is conceivably a problem, if you play the game a lot. My only suggestion - for classroom play, I would like to have more that 4 racing cars. The next time I bring it to class I will need to add in some monopoly pieces so that more people can play.

Fun game for those starting out in French
Fun game for those starting out in French, but not very useful for those past high beginner. However, lots of ways to make it more difficult if you're creative and there are more ideas and free expansions for different tenses available on the website. Cards are great, but thought seems lacking in the boardgame version

Fun game that all levels can play
I played this with 2 teenage granddaughters - one who has 2 years of high school French,(about my level too), and the other who has studied Spanish but no French. The non- French speaking granddaughter won! It was hilarious to see how fast she caught on to the strategy, how easily she picked up vocabulary! The other granddaughter and I were taken off guard - there was definitely a factor of not being dealt the cards to make a longer sentence, but the cool thing is that we were all on equal ground. We learned a ton, and were all able to play together. Can't wait to order the Spanish version too.
