Tamiya TM61098 Lockheed F-16CJ Falcon Model KIT

I've been working on the F-16 on and off over the last month and it is a really nicely manufactured model, still in the sealed plastic packaging that Tamiya send these out in and all parts/decals/paperwork was in the box with no damaged parts/pieces. I've seen no issue with excess sprue or messy mould lines on the parts and everything goes together really nicely with minimal adjustment needed to live up parts properly. I have attached a few pictures of the build progress, this isn't fully completed yet (still some mask/paint around cockpit etc) that needs to be cleaned up and finished off but just to give a general idea of how the model looks during building and (almost) final product.

Well! I brought this kit to fill a little time as it is the last aircraft I can say that I have any association with. What a kit it is, the detail is very very good but sometimes the assembly sheet explanations are just a little difficult to understand but that comment is just a niggle, but something I think you as a perspective buyer of this kit should be aware of. However read once...read twice..fully understand what you have to do..if not read again. It is so important not to approach this kit with the expectation of a final result in a matter of hours. This kit is worth every second of the time you will spend assembling it to achieve a great result. Number two grouse... and it is an expensive one, the cost of the paints involved. If you intend to just assemble and not paint then this would not affect you but if you intend to paint your model then you have to add the price of the various paints to you final bill. For those who do this if it is done well then it will be worth the extra money, I have gone this route and spread over a couple of months (due to to my slow assembly time) you no doubt like me will absorb the cost. D.

This was a great model to spend some time on. The fit and connection of each of the pieces in very precise and needed very little whittling to get into place. the decals provided had great detail and really added a great finish to the model. I really liked that you had the option for the tinted canopy or the standard.

A nice kit and well detailed (though you would expect at this price point - £45+). Decal set is good and comprehensive but found issues with them wanting to stick without fixative. Went together well for the most part with no big fit issues though some very fiddly areas. Not sure about Tamiya using rubber plugs and pins in certain areas for non-glue securing e.g the whole tail can be removed. First time ive seen this. For changeable weapons i get it but removable tail? I did have some issues with front landing bay with the cross strut not fitting but might just have been me.

Tamiya's 1/48 F-16 is acknowledged as one of the best Viper kits out there due to its excellent detail and precision moulding. I can definitely see why - everything so far has fitted together seamlessly. When I eventually finish it I will try and upload a photo.

Cannot comment as not for me, but seems like a good size.

Usual Tamiya AAA+ quality kit, incorporating many features used in their larger 1:32 scale version. PS - this is a model kit that requires painting and assembly😊.

This model has a lot of detail , some of the detail I hidden inside. This is not a starter kit . Very nice detailing. Thank yo tamiya.
