Performs well & has a tidy finish
Lot's of research lead to this product. It's not silent (in the high speed mode at least) but is much quieter than the old unit. The advantage of humidity switching ensures that most bathroom events are completed without triggering the fan. Use of a shower or bath will trigger the unit. The other advantage here is that you can set a relatively short run time, as once running, until the humidity drops below your chosen level the timer is not triggered & the fan continues to run. Fit & finish are excellent, instructions simple & swapping the old unit easy. Whilst these things couldn't be described as pretty, not seeing all the dirt in the front grill is another nice touch.

It’s works and it’s quiet!
This was an easy fit in an newly fitted en-suite. I Google what the building regulations were and after going through many nice looking fans this one fitted what I needed. It arrived quickly and the plumber and electrician fitted it within the week. It can be fitted with a different shaped front as it comes with a couple and the important bit for me was that it can remove 25ltrs or 15ltrs of steam a second and it runs for 15 minutes once the shower is switched off as needed with the building regulations for en-suite bathrooms / shower rooms. And excellent piece of kit and I need four more and I will be buying these

Quiet fan, does the job but do read the instructions closely.
The fan is very neat and works well. I have dropped a star as the instructions are not perfect and there were issues in the installation, see below. The instructions are the usual 40 page multi-lingual tome with 4 pages of illustrations and 4 in English which relate to the illustrations. I got the local handyman to install it as a ceiling fan to replace the previous wall mounting. He was unfamiliar with the model and missed an essential item in the instructions - I had to refit everything once he had left. (First lesson - read the instructions yourself and do a complete dry assembly) The square baffle plate over the fan has to be set parallel to the wall or square to the ceiling. To do this Xpelair have a raised line on the motor plate marked LEVEL. He had not spot the need to Level (wall fitting) or align (ceiling fitting). (Second lesson) To aid proper fitment I highlighted this line in pencil and a similar line on the ceiling. When fitting I aligned the two. Once secured I copied the wiring for there previous fan - grey to T, black to Neutral and brown to Live. Once switched on 'nothing' happened as there is no test mechanism to test the installation, the only way is to run the shower and increase the humidity. Once we got it 'working' it became apparent there were issues that I don't need to detail except to say the fan would not stop. After trying various options I contacted Xpelair. They advised that I switched two wires over. This improved matters but was not quite right. I then did a further swap and it now all works. As I had switched the timer to minimum and humidity stat to max I now need to reset these to better values. Third lesson, do not fit the fan cover until you are satisfied that the humidity stat kicks in at the right level and that the over run timer is long enough. It would be very useful if you had a humidity sensor so you could set things up. (I have). Once everything was setup and running we had the option to set the fan speed from the default Low Speed to High Speed by moving a jumper. In high there is a clearly audible rush of air through the fan (I haven't tried with the baffle plates on) At low speed the airflow is still audible in the bathroom but there is no sound outside the room. In conclusion, excellent support by Xpelair but installation, while not difficult, requires a bit more care than a simple circular mount timer fan. We ordered a second for the other bathroom. With prior experience the old fan was out and the new in in well under an hour. The wall fitting highlighted another problem. The previous fan power was on the left, the Xpelaire input is on the right. I had to install the fan upside down with the logo also upside down. Excellent fan but not 5* for the issues listed.

Useless. Doesn’t draw steam & turns on randomly! Getting refund.
Totally useless. Weirdly I got sent both the round and square covers. This fab was fitted by an experienced electrician into my VERY small bathroom. (As per photo to show you how small). It does not remove steam from even the shortest shower despite being near it. I end up with condensation on my new tiles and it steams up the mirror. It also comes on as it pleases when the bathroom is not in use! I have been in the bathroom when it just comes on without the light connected to it being on! It’s totally ineffective for what you want it to do. We’ve adjusted the settings, the timer, we have to have it on at least 15 minutes after a shower or even a bath with the door open for moisture to start to be sucked out. It looks fine but as others say does stick out from the wall. I expected this to be excellent being this brand. I’d been away prior to my bathroom renovation and in a home with a bigger bathroom with a fan and the room didn’t once steam up or glossy porcelain tiles get steamy and wet. In my small bathroom during a warm quick shower this should manage the steam immediately. I’m contacting the seller for a full refund as it’s not exactly cheap and I’ll be looking carefully for a replacement. My partner is a builder and tradesman and he’s tried everything, even shortening the tube from indoors to the outlet. Nothing has improved it and please don’t waste your money. It is quiet that’s the only positive but I’d rather have a louder one that actually does what it’s supposed to do. Useless!

A Lesson in Humidity
We recently embarked on a quest for the perfect bathroom extractor fan and decided to give the Xpelair C4HTS 4-inch Simply Silent Contour Extractor Fan Humidistat a try. Our previous purchase lacked the humidity and timer functions, so we were excited about this one. Spoiler alert: our excitement was short-lived. Installation Adventure: First off, installing this fan was straghtforward, but we didn't get the humidity and timer functions to work. Maybe a "For Dummies" guide would help, because the instructions didn't give us any clues as to what we were doing wrong. Performance: We eventually got it running when the light is switched on, but it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. Very silent, which was nice, but also not as effective as our previous one. We ended up swapping it for another model that seemed to get the job done more efficiently (but we couldnt work out H and T on this one either!). Design Drama: The design, while sleek in and probably good looking in other bathrooms, left parts of the original hole in the ceiling exposed. The Silver Lining: On the bright side, it does run quietly, so at least it lives up to the "Simply Silent" claim. If you're a fan (pun intended) of this, this might be for you. Happy ventilating!

Waste of money
Iv had this a year now and it’s been a nightmare from the start. I should of sent it back. The first few days after installing it stayed on constantly for 2 day straight. Then worked when shower come on but stayed on for hours after shower was off even with no steam or condensation in my bathroom. I stuck with it out of stubbornness as my wife told me not to buy it because of the bad reviews. I thought the bad reviews were from people that didn’t know how to set it up and I would be able to set it up and prove her wrong 😒. Turns out she was right. You have a opinion to move a jumper block to make the fan speed faster and that’s what I did straight away when installing it. You can also adjust the timer and I did that to the lowest run time and the moisture sensor I adjusted to minimum to. But still it has its own mind and just turns on and off when it wants to. When you turn shower on it turns on and we not turn off for hours or days. Running all night long to just wasting my expensive electricity 🥵. Then it will be off and randomly turn its self on in the middle of the night and it wakes us up. So at the moment it got the wires pulled out. So not using it at all. My bathroom isn’t big it’s 5x6ft. Iv only come on here today to buy another one that’s on a switch and not a sensor. I’m not one for writing reviews normally as I just can’t be bothered. But as I’m here speed more money because this was a waste of money I thought I’d let you all know NOT TO WASTE YOURS

Excellent product - MADE IN THE UK!!!
Excellent quality product fitted in my en-suite shower room. With its built in humidistat it means that it only works when really necessary. It is also really quiet when on the low speed - it is quite a bit noisier if you select the high speed. However, since it stops automatically when the humidity falls back to normal I just let it run at low speed for as long as it wants. Note that if you want this model can also be wired to come on automatically when you switch the light on as well as operating by humidity control regardless of whether the light is off or on but I chose just have it operating via the humidistat.
