Building Services Handbook

This 8th edition seems to be the 7th edition with a new cover: preface refers to it being 7th edition, publication date is 2013 and there are references to legislation that has changed in the last 12 months. Item has been returned.

It finally arrived after several months of delays. Puzzled why Amazon says it was (finally) published in September 2015 when the book states it was published in 2013. I really hope it's not two years out of date after waiting so long. Only just started reading and page 6 is out of date. The CDM regulations were updated in earlier in 2015. Can I trust the rest of the book?

Has everything I need to know in it, I just have to remember it!

As a self-builder of our own house, I find this book hugely useful. It is clearly aimed at professionals and building trade students, but makes things easily understandable even to us lay folk. Lovely clear diagrams make how things work and go together crystal clear for even the non-expert. This book has given me both the knowledge and the confidence to know that I'm doing things according to the building regs and to keep the building inspector happy. It's not cheap I suppose, but is a true treasure trove of useful information. The writer/s have also managed that rare thing of producing a technical book which can be picked up and understood immediately by the non expert, but without excluding important information and still at a level of use to real experts. For me it has been indispensable along with the Building Construction Handbook in the same series.
