Great product at a great price!
One of my New Year's resolutions was to cut my high fructose corn syrup intake down to almost nil. Soda is my biggest problem so I started researching the various make-your-soda-at-home products. While some people liked the big name-brand product, I found the price a little daunting and it didn't seem like it was going be useful when I was at work or out somewhere, which is where I drink the most soda. While researching, I came across this fizz giz gadget and decided to give it a try. The price was affordable and the product is portable. Also, I did not want to get tied into purchasing a specific brand's expensive CO2 cartridges because their product only lets you use theirs. I wanted to SAVE MONEY besides cutting out the HFCS and this was a comment in the reviews on that product that people didn't think they were actually saving money making their own soda. The fizz giz uses standard CO2 cartidges that can be refilled. This "gadget" is great. It is very easy to use, even for someone as non-mechanically inclined as myself. Insert the CO2 cartridge, screw on the bottom and it is ready to go. I can put some juice or a powdered drink packet in a water bottle out of a machine and giz fizz it very easily. Its actually a little fun, just make sure you have your fizz giz cap on tight when you carbonate! The carbonation actually makes the flavored water taste different and you can control the intensity of the carbonation. Over the past week, I have found that I like some flavored waters more carbonated than others. It is so easy to use that I have not bought a soda from a machine since I got my gadget in the mail. I just have kept refilling my water bottle with cold water. I highly recommend anyone who is exploring making your soda at home to purchase this product instead because I love mine. The seller is also very customer service oriented because he sent me an email with tips for using the fizz giz with a video attachment. I have been an Amazon Prime member for a few years and buy lots of products. This is the only time I have ever been sent an email by a seller regarding my purchase, unless there was a problem.

Seltzer water / Crabonated Juices...pure and simple.
You know, I have read a number of reviews and am honestly baffled that there are any complaints. The design and use of this valve cap is genius. I would like to share what I have and how it works so others might benefit. I love carbonated drinks and have been looking for a way to fizz my water and various juices. After scouring the web, YouTube, and reading a bunch, I was resigned to the fact that I would either have to build a carbonation unit using a tire air valve, or purchase a SodaStream and only be able to carbonate water alone...not juices like Fizz Gizz. When I found Fizz Gizz' website, I was first impressed at all the information he provided. Not only did he explain the mechanics of carbonation, the differences between his product and others, but also demonstrated how to make one of your own...without buying his product. I went ahead and bought (June 2012) the CO2 carbonation cartridge unit and (THIS NEXT PART IS IMPORTANT) a FIZZ GIZZ Downstream Hardware for a conventional CO2 tank and pressure regulator (I bought a 20LB CO2 tank), and five of the white valve caps and five of the black ones (I always like to have extra in case I lost it or one failed). Although the hand-held carbonation unit worked/works fine, I liked the notion of having continuous, uninterrupted carbonation, and that's why I bought the FIZZ GIZZ Downstream Hardware for a conventional CO2 tank and pressure regulator. I literally have NONSTOP extremely carbonated seltzer water, or NONSTOP extremely carbonated juice/any liquid. With SodaStream you only get to carbonate water and add your flavoring to the carbonated water. My Fizz Gizz let's me carbonate water or different juices. Of the ten total caps purchased, eight remain in the drawer unused. Why you ask? Because the two caps I started off using are still working perfect to this day. Keep in mind I am constantly using them every day, carbonating water and juices for the family. It just works! Perfectly at that! If I have ever had any questions, my emails have been answered within an hour. I can only say that the FIZZ GIZZ Downstream Hardware and valve caps have been one of the most frequently used and reliable items I have purchased for my kitchen and I am thoroughly pleased. Don't hesitate to buy the caps, valves, hardware, or anything for that matter. It simply works! Regards, Eric

Good and bad.
For some reason I received two of these, and I was charged for two. I am not sure it wasn't my mistake so I won't return the extra one. Overall this product does exactly what it claims to do. The pictures show it with "optional" items that are not included, so read the description carefully. It comes with two cylinders that each do a couple of liters. Enough to try it out, but be sure to stock up on cylinders if you're going to use it regularly. It also includes two standard size soda caps rigged with a rubber valve to interface with the device. They leak a bit so after you carbonate the beverage you should change back to a regular cap. A couple of times I put the carbonated bottle in the fridge and it was flat again the next morning. The device is very simple to use and the cartridges are cheap and easy to order on Amazon. I would say my only complaint is the build quality:price ratio. The build seems very cheap for a device meant to use pressurized gas. If I had a chance to see it in the store I wouldn't have payed more than $10 for this product. It feels cheap in the hand, like it would be more at home as a dollar store novelty item. Overall I will give it 3 stars, it performs as advertised, but for $35 odd dollars it should be made of aluminum or something more substantial than glued plastic. Overall I like this product, but I don't love it. I would much rather stick with my counter top soda maker, but I cant get the charger bottles where I am. This will do in a pinch, but it wouldn't be my first choice unless portability was a factor. I don't have alot of confidence it will last for the long run. Time will tell. I will update the review after a few months to let you know. UPDATE: After a few months of use the FizzGiz is still going strong. I have gone through about 15 Charge Cylinders with no issue, other than it cross threading now and then, which I attribute to the cheap plastic construction. I still maintain for the price point it should have been made of aluminum, but this is more an opinion than fact. The fact is the unit is still working fine. I am adding a star to my review because initially I subtracted one for what seems like cheap build quality.

The True Soda Maker
For years, I've been tempted by the Big Name Soda Maker Brands, and considered them (as my faith in the Food Industry becomes less and less), but after finding out how limited they were (whether with the 'only water' requirement, very limited CO2, exclusive CO2 tank and the hassle that comes with its refills, and the small liquid amount in their exclusive bottles), I figured I would just have to make my own soda maker, but then, I came across the Fizz Giz, while web searching. I debated a long time about purchasing this, because to be honest, one, it sounded too good to be true, and second, the maker's website looked less than "professional," in my opinion. Even with some positive comments from around the web, I was still skeptical and paranoid about getting conned. How wrong was I was when I found it on Amazon (A website I trust because it has a lot of Reviews and trusted Reviewers) and I finally decided it was cheap enough to buy and test it out for myself, without much money loss, if it turned out to be a fluke, but the product and its results are anything, but cheap! Sure, the price starts to mimic the price tag of the Big Brand Soda Makers, when you put purchasing the Fizz Giz Homestation, the Paintball Tank, the required PET Bottles, Extra Fizz Giz Caps for the PET Bottles, and the original Fizz Giz kit, in mind, but the quality of the Homemade Sodas are actually worth it. The creator of the Fizz Giz is more than Professional than some Big Brand Name Makers, as he answers any question you may have, almost instantly and always courteously. ... I've never been able to taste such concentrated carbonation in my drinks, even after buying the Store-Bought Sodas, and the fact that I can control the contents of the drink, it makes me less worried about what's going into my body. Mastering the ideal soda takes time and practice, it took me a bunch of tries, but I figured it out while having some fun with the crazy bubbles, at least. I use a Paintball Tank (Which, took me a lot of time to find, just to continue my Soda Technique Training), thanks to the Fizz Giz Homestation, so I can insert as much CO2 as I want, used the Fizz Giz's Basic Instructions as a Guide, keeping the Fizz Giz Cap as tightly as possible, and either waiting a couple of hours, to a day, or longer, which seemed to make the carbonation more concentrated into the beverage, along with keeping the environment and myself "Soda Free." After mastering my perfect soda, I've really been having a lot of fun experimenting with new flavors and am very enthusiastic with what else can be carbonated besides 'only water.'

BEWARE: Incorrectly and misleadingly advertised!!!
BEWARE: What is being sold here is not what is pictured. [edit to add: avoid any "fizz giz" product. The seller is a jerk, and his products are a joke. I managed to get a refund, after engaging in a dispute process. Buy a real regulator and do not mess with the "fizz giz" BS. For some reason, anything labeled "Fizz Giz" is all jumbled up on Amazon, which is only the beginning of the FG woes... AVOID!! For some reason, this review of the awful "Home Carbonation Unit" (thankfully, no longer sold on Amazon, likely due to a deluge of complaints) is now showing up under the cheesy soda maker caps ad. Whatever. Do a little research, buy a bulk CO2 bottle, a real regulator, hose and "carbonater" (sic!) cap, and you're good to go. $3 for a sports ball valve in a plastic cap is absurd, but so is everything this guy hawks...] There is a little thingy called a FIZZ GIZ, that takes 16g CO2 bulbs, and that IS NOT INCLUDED HERE. The "FIZZ GIZ" is NOT PART OF THIS LISTING. Sorry to shout, but the seller is not clear at all about what is being sold. What is in fact being sold is not what is pictured, nor what is described; despite advertising the product as being a "Fizz Giz Soda Maker - AND Home Carbonation Kit" You will receive only the Home Carbonation Kit. Not the Fizz Giz thingy at all. Just so that's clear. And what is the "Home Carbonation Kit"? Well, it's basically an adapter from CO2 bulk tank down to a teeny 1/8" line, to an air sprayer handpiece with a tight nozzle on it, for ramming into the silicone valves in the FizzGiz lids. To be clear, the Home Carbonation Kit is two pieces, with a length of small tubing in between, in case that might have been unclear from the blurry description and the photos showing lots of other stuff that you might have thought was included, but is NOT. Moving on to more trivial details: The female threads on the aluminum nut in the seller's picture are clean and proper. The threads on my unit, by contrast, are jagged, uneven, and quite awful. Interestingly, the seller specifically refuses responsibility for cross-threading. Ah, but badly cut threads do tend to cross-thread, sometimes... And instead of the nice black handpiece shown in the Amazon seller photos, I got a pretty clunky looking yellow unit with a button rather than a lever, and no iChip anywhere. :( When I emailed for a resolution, the seller told me to call him, instead of resolving it in print. :( Update: The seller is hostile and unhelpful, refuses to answer questions or respond to any points in email, and does offer a refund, but apparently expects me to pay return shipping. Wrong answer. I've got a bulk tank in the mail to me, and if this seller screws up my plans by refusing to make this right, I am going to be very unhappy. I'll post pics in the next few days unless the seller settles with me. If I'm satisfied, I'll be happy to edit my review at that time. Until then, I must say, BUYER BEWARE!!!!! [Edit to add: The seller is being an absolute douche about the return of his crappy kludge. Buy something else. I would recommend getting a 5lb CO2 tank, or even a 20-lb tank, but be sure to talk to your local gas supplier first; the only place in town that does CO2 where I live only does exchanges, not fills, so I have to take the 5-lb cylinder I now own to the nearest city to fill. In return for this occasional inconvenience, I have a shiny aluminum tank all my own, which I may even polish, for maximal WAF. (Wife Acceptance Factor) Then get yourself a real CO2 regulator, perhaps from a brewing supply, which had better prices than Amazon when I checked. Get a hose and ball-lock coupling, and a "Carbonater" (SIC!) cap. Now, you can carbonate most anything safely and easily. And, if for some reason you'd like to do it the kludge way, you can also buy sports ball valves, tire valves, or whatever else, drill holes, insert valves in caps, etc... You can also hook up to a soda keg with the ball-lock connector, as many home-brewers are now doing, and skip bottling, if you're into the home brew thing. So for just a couple bucks more than you'd spend on the Fizz-Giz, you could have a real regulator, and real, food-grade professional equipment instead of a silly, weak, poorly designed and -built garage kludge. You decide; I know I did!] [Edit again to add: The seller ripped me off for shipping both ways, and refused a full refund. Avoid this "product" and its seller like the plague, is my last word on the subject. YMMV, good luck!]

Great product, great customer service
I have had the Fizz Giz for a couple of days now and I think it's great. It does what it says it does and is easy to use. The only issue I've found with it is I am using Mountain Dew bottles and with those, you have to remove the plastic 'lock ring' on both the bottle and the Fizz Giz cap. (This ring will be removed during the first use of the Fizz Giz cap, but it really needs to be removed before the first use to get a good seal on a Dew bottle.) The Dew bottles have a shorter cap area, so the locking ring caused me some issues. After removing the ring, it works like a charm. I also contacted the company through their website and got lots of great information and information on other products of interest. The reply was very fast. I intend on ordering one of their Soda Ropes (which uses a paintball tank instead of little cartridges) in just a few moments. With it, you lose some portability, but the CO2 is cheaper, so I'm picking one up for home and using the Fizz Giz for travel or at work.

Works very well
I read the reviews and compared and contrasted against more expensive soda dispensers on Amazon and I decided to go with the Fizz Giz because it seemed small, easy-to-use, and took cheap cartridges and store-bought plastic bottles... but mostly because it was less expensive overall. I am pleased with the decision. It works well - actually it works very well. I made multiple batches of home-made root beer and they came about really nicely carbonated. Compared to my usual method of using yeast (which takes a week or more, leaves a yeasty aftertaste, makes the root beer mildly alcoholic and results in less than stellar levels of carbonation), the Fizz Giz is way way better. It's nearly instantaneous, and I couldn't taste any unwanted tastes from the C02 and the root beer was very well carbonated with a good sharp level of C0. About the only negative - and this is covered in the instructions but I didn't know about it in advance - is that the caps don't fit all types of plastic bottles. I had a bunch of Schwepps Tonic water bottles that I wanted to use, but I couldn't get a good seal with them. The instructions recommended Pepsi and those bottles worked much much better. But I had hoped that any 2L bottle would work and this doesn't seem to be the case. Overall, I recommend it. Small, cheap, easy-to-use, and the results are very good.

Perfect solution on staying healthy
I have the Fizz Giz home station connected to a 12oz tank. I love carbonated drinks but not all the sodium, sugar and caffeine. This device allows me to drink healthy and still have my fizz which I dearly love! I make several flavors at a time for variety while controlling the amount of sugar that I add. It is so much fun trying different juices and flavors and I can drink all I want without feeling guilty of drinking unhealthy drinks. I use the 12oz tank because it fits in my kitchen cabinet with an extra tank on hand. It's all to ones' preference. Mr. Fizz was and is very informative, helpful and polite. One could not ask for a better buyer/ seller relations. This man is a genius and is willing to share his knowledge with you if it will better your experience with the Fizz Giz. 5 stars for his products!!
