Honeywell IS312B Pet Tolerant Passive Infrared (PIR) Motion Detector with Swivel Bracket (replaces model IS215T)

Bought to replace an old PIR which had gone faulty and started triggering at random (suspect dirty relay contacts). There was some confusion as to whether this came with a mounting bracket - this one does. In the end I didn't use the bracket and just screwed the sensor direct to the wall. Installation is easy, there's nothing to set up except pet mode and LED disable (by jumpers). The alarm contacts are via SSR on this sensor, so there's no relay to fail like in my old one. Sensitivity is very good, it picks up movement straight away but no false triggers at all.

Wife loves it keeps warm for hours

Suitable replacement for my old PIR and has a jumper setting that prevents the pets from triggering a false alarm. I had an old PIR that was prone to triggering when the cat walked by. For years my work round was to keep the old cat out of the room with the sensitive PIR installed when leaving the house. All other PIRs in my house are pet safe. We now have two kittens and they are difficult to keep out of the room with the sensitive PIR. On several occasions, I had to leave the alarm off when heading out to avoid false alarms. I upgraded to this product and no longer have this problem. Fitting was easy, 4 wires to swap and 2 screws to hold to the wall. I have tested the sensor and confirmed that it triggers when a person enters the room but not a cat. It has been in use for a few weeks now and there have been no false alarms.

Generally very good. You don't need the adjustable bracket if mounting to a wall face or corner. It replaced an entry zone door reed switch. It sometimes seems hesitant to react when entering. I can sometimes enter and stand in the doorway waiting. Then move more into the house and it triggers. Check the size as this is bigger than my older PIRs. Instructions too terse or IKEA-like but ok if you know your way around these things. It is a quick install leaflet. There is no downloadable slow install guide.

Purchased as a replacement for a sensor which had started giving false alarms - not sure if it's common but in my experience it seems sensors start doing this over time, but at least they are cheap to replace. The original PIR was a Honeywell IS215TCE and this a close equivalent at a good price. PIR sensors are generally all the same in terms of wiring so any would do but I like to try and not mix and match too much where possible, so this seemed a local choice for me. I fitted the original so was confident in replacing it, although if you are reasonably confident with basic electronics/wiring then it's an easy job. Would always recommend taking a photo of the original wiring before making any changes, as it's easy to forget what goes where, and you can always get back to where you started if needed. As expected the entry holes were different to the original but I had plenty of spare cable. This had the option of a ceiling bracket, but I didn't use that and just fitted directly to the wall in the corner. Like most sensors this had the option to enable/disable the LED and the pet sensor. I don't have pets so disabled that feature and left the LED enabled (which is the default). Once fitted, looks good and no more false alarms.

Replaced old IR as wanted ability to pan and tilt the IR in a small room so it cover the doors works well. easy to fit

Je l'ai installé depuis plusieurs mois en remplacement d'un ancien détecteur, pas de fausse alarme depuis son installation malgré qu'il soit plus sensible que le précédent, je recommande ce produit.

Ottimo sensore. Compatto.

Ce détecteur infra rouge filaire est bon. Les essais sont concluants. Des réglages sont possibles pour s'affranchir des mouvements des animaux domestiques. La qualité du produit est là. Les plastiques sont robustes et offrent une esthétique quasi parfaite. Seul problème, il faut une bonne loupe pour lire le mode d'emploi. Je recommande ce détecteur pour son très bon rapport qualité prix.
