Does this stay on in the wash, or do you need to keep readding it?

Why do you make simple spray complicated? It won't spray. It says "press" on the top, dont know why, but it doesnt do anything.

The press is a safety feature to stop the nozzle from turning and allowing the contents of the bottle to be sprayed prematurely

Would it waterproof general fabric used to make a bag?

I used it on my umbrellas and a couple of macs. I think the fabric needs to be of a close weave to be successful on a bag. Give it a go, you will never know if you do not try.
