Marugoto: Japanese language and culture. Starter A1 Rikai: Coursebook for communicative language competences

This is a supplement to the online Marugoto course (free). It is NOT a comprehensive guide, it simply provides an introduction to themes with key vocabulary, and gives a few questions and examples to do alongside the listening exercises. You WILL need something else for grammar.

One of the best Japanese textbooks I've seen. I bought it for my wife who's a Japanese teacher. I used to work as an EFL teacher and am glad to see that there is finally a Japanese course book that is as good as some of the books I've used to teach English.

Good package and quality. Good book for Japanese beginners though there might be too many pictures involved.

Rikai (this) is more about grammar and writing. It's very modern! Beautiful colourful images! Our day's conversation. Of course, you can combine this book with free audio from the website and free online course.

Ich habe die Bücher begleitend zur Teilnahme beim Kurs bei der Japan Foundation bestellt. Man bekommt sie eigentlich beim Kurs aber ich wollte sie schon vorher haben. Die Bücher sind auf englisch / japanisch. Ich hatte noch nie so gute Lernhefte! Sie eignen sich auch super um mit einem Tandem Japanisch zu lernen. Ich denke selbst für ein Eigenstudium sind sie noch super. (obwohl ich immer mit Partner lernen würde) Es gibt zu den Büchern noch das Audiomaterial online kostenlos zum herunterladen. Außerdem gibt es dort auch noch andere Materialien kostenlos. Die Bücher sind in einzelne Kapitel aufgeteilt nach bestimmten Themengebieten die für einen Sprachanfänger auch wirklich Sinn machen. Nicht so wie manch andere Bücher die einem irgendwas beibringen was man erstmal überhaupt nicht brauch. Gerade dieser absolute praxisbezug machen die Bücher für mich so hervorragend. Außerdem sind sie schön und übersichtlich gestaltet. Es fehlen nirgends Übersetzungen, so dass man nie raten müsste was das jetzt bedeutet. Klare Empfehlung! Ich werde nicht nur die anderen Bücher auch kaufen, sondern auch weiter an den Kursen teilnehmen (auch die nur zu empfehlen!)
