Clairfontaine paper comes with glassine sheets. Pricy but worth every penny. Greatest paper for pastel and I have not been disappointed to date. I have used the paper for pastels but not wet media, although the front cover states that the paper accepts wet media and solvents.

Clarefontaine Pastelmat is a wonderful surface to work on. It takes many layers of pastel without becoming “muddy”. The paper is easy to remove from the pad and has glassine in between the pages. I’m not a professional pastel artist but this paper will make you feel like one!

Nothing compares to this paper. It’s pricey but worth it. You can use light over darks with no problems which you can’t with other papers.

I love this paper, it holds tons of layers and is the best for pastels and colored pencils, in my experience. I do wish I didn't cost so much but it definitely takes your art to another level. It feels much smoother than you expected to also. I'll attach my artwork in colored pencils with a pastel background.

I purchased these for a beginner's pastel workshop that I taught for my local art guild. It's important to have the proper surface and quality pastels to fully experience the potential of the pastel medium. Pastelmat provides a consistent surface that is smooth enough to achieve a velvety look and smooth gradient blending while also having enough of a tooth to capture and hold pigment. Far better-looking results than those so-called pastel papers that have a textured surface that shows through your finished work.

4 star due to being pricey. Still trying to get used to the pad. The texture is sandy. Using it primarily for colored pencils only. You can apply several layers. The paper is thick.

Clairefontaine Pastelmat is an excellent paper to use with soft pastels. There seems to be less dust, more soft pastel color goes on easier, and stays on the paper without extra pressure. It works wonderfully for layering you colors, too.
