Plenty bright and efficient
I’ve had this for 6 months and it’s perfect for my use. Durable. I walk/hike early in the morning, so I’m used to the darkness. “Low” is enough for me most of the time. Out in the woods, I often go to “medium” to better see the terrain I’m walking on. “High” for me is a spotlight, which I use sporadically. Also, the perfect house light when the power goes out! Walking room to room and not needing to find a light switch is pretty handy. Battery life is phenomenal since I’m on “low” most of the time, I’ll go a couple weeks on rechargeable triple As. It’s held up well in rain and cold weather. It’s design is a great “night light” when staying overnight, the low setting while hanging on a drawer knob gives a pleasant glow on the floor to avoid obstacles in an unfamiliar location. Great for any repair type work too.

Great head lamp!
Great headlamp for camping or even when power goes out during a storm, easy to change out batteries, this is my second one, bought to have a back up. Lightweight and fits bwell after adjustments.

Impossible to insert batteries
I bought this because my wife has one and I really liked the price, weight, and simplicity of operation. Hers is an earlier 250 lumen model and unfortunately there is now a redesigned 300 lumen version. Unfortunately because I and other users have been unable to open the battery compartment, so the one I have doesn't work. I've looked at the Petzl instructions and watched the various YouTube videos. I sort of see how it's supposed to work, but mine just doesn't turn the way they show. I asked Petzl for help and a tech support guy sent me a copy of the relevant pages from their "technical notice," but that turned out to be exactly the same as the instructions in the box. So one star for lack of quality control when they did the redesign. Shame, it could have been a contender.

Nice headlamp.
Solid headlamp and way better than a Walmart or Lowe’s headlamp. Works in rain and you can bag them around. Solid.

Comfortable to wear; simple to operate.
This is my third Petzl Tikkina headlamp in the last nine years, with each version being slightly different. This model is sturdy and easy to use, with one-click operation and low, medium, and high beam settings. It feels slightly heavier in the hand but is well balanced when worn. The adjustable ¾-inch headband is soft and comfortable; the power button design looks to prevent accidental activation in a backpack. A previous Petzl headlamp experienced battery contact failure within six months of light use, which caused some hesitation. After trying other brands, the Tikkina proved more comfortable to run with and easier to adjust on the move. The 300-lumen model is sufficient for dawn or dusk neighborhood runs…. and if this model holds up, would like to purchase a higher lumin Petzl lamp.

I would spend the extra $15 to get the Tikka
The light is bright and has worked great for short trail runs. My only gripe is that the button to turn the light on is quite large and easy to activate and there is no lockout feature to keep it from turning on in my bag when not in use. Yes, I can remove the batteries or use a piece of plastic to isolate the battery but it’s kind of a pain to do every time I need the light or put it away. The Tikka headlamp is only $15 more and does have a lockout feature. I would spend the extra $15 to not have to deal with manual removing batteries every time I put the light away.
