Upon opening the well-packaged chairs, I was immediately struck by the attention to quality that had clearly been paid by whoever made these. I expected raggedy drilled holes, nicks, wonky parts...the usual sort of stuff you'd expect from DIY furniture. I was prepared to need to do a little fixing up, but there was no need. All hardware was present, all surfaces were smoothly sanded and unblemished, and the screw holes had no tear-outs. All parts matched well and lined up properly. The chairs were easy to put together (must note that we did use a drill when it came to attaching the seat) and are level and rock solid. They are very attractive and a huge improvement over our old, smaller chairs. The seats on these are wider and the X backs have full back height. They look fantastic and we really love them. My initial thought was that I'd be painting them and staining the seats, but they look great as they are in their natural wood, so I'll probably end up just sealing them with some polyurethane instead. We ordered the 16.5" Shinnwa chair cushions from Amazon and they are a good fit for us, but there is some space around the seat edges, so don't be afraid to get cushions that are a little larger if you want full coverage across the whole seat.

These chairs are very solid. The workmanship and packaging were excellent. I thought the assembly was straight forward and easy. Considering the price, these are an excellent choice. I would absolutely consider purchasing International Concept unfinished wood products again. In terms of assembling and finishing the chairs, I used the following approach. I was vey happy with the result. Assembly - Although not specified in the instructions, I used wood glue (Tight bound III) on all of the the stretcher joints connecting the legs. I believe this added a lot of strength to chair build. - The chairs do not include feet, I added 3/4 inch heavy duty screw in sliders to each leg. Seat finish - Sanded 120/180/220. The seat needs to be water popped (wipe with a wet rag) and sand one final time with 220. after it dries - A pre-stain conditioner was applied prior to using a Varathane Gel Stain - Carbon Grey - Several coats of a satin water based polyurethane (GF High Performance). An oil based semi-gloss urethane would also be a great choice The chair finish (not including the seat) - Painted with Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra spray paint (dark walnut) - Once the spray paint was completely cured, painted with Behr Semi gloss interior paint (sprayed) - Randomly sanded the chairs with 120 grit to achieve the weathered look - Polished the entire chair (not including seat) with fine steel wool and paste wax (Trewax)

This is my first 5 star review I have given. I don't ever like to do that but this chair deserves it. The packaging was protective yet easy to get all the pieces out. The assembly is medium difficulty and you will need patience/adjustments when doing the final tightening job to ensure you have a chair that does not wobble. Again, this is not hard but to do it right you need to take your time. This chair is rock solid after tightened. The solid wood is beautiful and the machining is done perfectly consistent on all parts and pieces (I bought 6 chairs). My chairs required no additional sanding before applying finish. This was one of the most satisfying purchases I have made in a long time. I am impressed with the chairs and can't believe they only cost $50 a piece.. If you are decent with your hands and don't mind taking your time, these chairs are w well worth the money and will be a great piece of furniture for a very long time.

We were thrilled with these chairs. After much research and shopping, we feel these chairs are such a bargain. Super sturdy, and easy to assemble with beautiful wood that I will be able to stain to match my table perfectly. P.S. The second shipment had a mix-up. They were so easy to work with on returns and refunded my money very quickly. Great company to work with. We will order from them again.

I was very surprised at the quality of these chairs. They are solid and sturdy. Easy to put together. Took about 10 minutes to put 2 chairs together. We painted/stained them and they look great!

Sturdy, functional, very large chairs, however, the description needs to emphasize that there are no predrilled holes (or markers) for attaching the seat so you need to center it yourself. To do this very accurately, the base needs to be held steady on a hard surface while you ensure the seat is flush with the back and centered equally on the sides. Also, don’t over tighten the legs at first or you won’t be able to place the supports in.

Chair pieces seem solid out of the box. I am staining the pieces (water based) and the wood is taking the stain perfectly.

I enjoy working with wood, a lot of home projects. Needed to replace some old chairs and was pleased by other reviews I'd read on these chairs. Arrived a few days ago, assembled while I was watching football. I'm just very pleased, no flaws in the product. Instructions are brief, but clear. I'd highly recommend a cordless screwdriver or impact driver for the wood screws. The wood is beautiful and definitely a hardwood. It's called parawood, from Vietnam. I'd never heard of it, but Google will tell you all. I plan on ordering more.

These chairs are very sturdy, and solid. My large hubby can sit in them without a problem. I find them very comfortable. Well worth the price!
