INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR Q: How did you decide to write for 10-14 year olds? A: When I was about 9 years old I loved reading action & adventure stories and mysteries. Being totally involved in the story and trying to figure out what was going to happen next was great fun, and for me this was the age when I first became really aware of how fantastic it was to read a well-written, gripping story. I wanted to recreate that feeling in SHADOW JUMPER - to be action-filled and a page-turner but to also tackle contemporary themes and issues. Q: What order should I read books in the series? Good question! The two books involve a different story, but my recommendation is to read SHADOW JUMPER first followed by the second book TWILIGHT ROBBERY. Q: What/who inspired the main character, Jack, in SHADOW JUMPER? I have to blame my sons for Jack's main preoccupation of shadow jumping! As children they didn't use to walk to school so much as jump between shadows on the pavement. I put this together with the idea of a boy sensitive to sunlight (a real condition that my dad suffered from, though not in such a severe form) and came up with Jack. I'd love to know what you think of SHADOW JUMPER , so do leave a review on here or at www.jm-forster.com J M Forster is the awarding-winning writer of mystery and action adventure books and intermediate readers for 9 - 12 year olds, and also books for young teens. Review: Enjoyable read - We give our children something they Need, something to read, wear, and share for Christmas each year. This book kept our teen off their phone all afternoon! Review: Exciting and moving story of a new friendship between lone teens - An interesting and unusual story of two withdrawn, shy teenage loners who are unexpectedly united by sharing a sense of loss - Jack for his absent father and Beth for her late parents. Their adventure together is topped and tailed by episodes of free running across rooftops, where they go to escape the rest of the world that has made them so unhappy. (From the gorgeous cover illustration, I thought more of the book would take place up there, but most of it's at ground level.) Their search for Jack's missing father, and for a cure for his progressively worsening skin condition, is exciting and tense, with great cliffhanger endings for many of the chapters. The descriptive writing about their complex feelings is often very fresh and clever, persuading the reader to share and sympathise with their angst, rooting for them against the odds. Although the plot revolves around an unusual set of circumstances that would not feature in most young readers' lives, they may still take away from it a valuable understanding that no matter how bad life is, the right friends will make it better, and the growing bond between hero and heroine is realistic and sensitively done - it's a true, deep friendship rather than a teenage romance. I'd recommend this book for 10-14 year olds, and it would be a great group read, stimulating talking points for teenagers, especially the nature of friendship, family, loss, courage and determination in the face of adversity.

shadow jumper: an amazing read!!!
This was an amazing book for my 10 year old daughter she wouldn’t give the device back to me if she was reading it. She also said she wouldn’t put it down. I would 100% recommend reading this book especially to sympathetic kids around 10 years old! J M Forster is such a great author definitely read this wonderful book.

Best action book I have ever read.
Im an an 11 year old boy and my mum bought me this book. Immediately after the fist chapter, I was addicted. I was reading it every night and I loved every page. The book was so grabbing and exciting and i was intrigued to know what amazing words waited for me on the next page. Drama and action covered the book and at times emotional. I was really sad when I finished the book and immediately had to write a review. Loved the book and highly recommended.

Good story
This is a good story that caught my childs imagination. The chapters are a good length for a quick read before bed.

Hard reading
The way it was written often didn't make sense. I would have thought it was self-published by someone inexperienced, not an award-winning author.
