There are well made charcoal containing bags that do a nice job of absorbing moisture and helping control odors. They are a nice size and fit well in men's and women's shoes. They have an attractive cloth covering with an open weave that lets air circulate so the charcoal can do its job. They are competitively priced, but have more charcoal per bag than some competing products, so they are a great value. We find that they work best if they are "activated" before the first use by leaving them out in the sun for a few hours. Doing this periodically also refreshes and reactivates them. In addition to use in shoes, they can also be used in drawers or other enclosed spaces.

These inserts extend the life of your shoes and keep them from smelling. So they work as advertised.

I wasn’t too thrilled at first. I thought, WHAT A WASTE!! The package comes with no instructions - like you need any instructions anyway. But yes, you do! You should crinkle up and massage, or whatever, these bags, then shove them hard into your shoes. It’s like massaging activates the charcoal. But yes, they do work. The odor is neutralized. You just don’t smell anything....until you wear the shoes again and get ‘em all stanky.

These things are great. I have 13 year old kid that has the worst smelling shoes on the the face of the earth and this product was effective in eliminating 99% of the smell. I was just hoping to minimize the odor a bit and these bags have gone above and beyond my expectations. I did massage the bag a little to “activate” it. I read in one of these other reviews. Not sure if it’s needed but I did it. Not sure how long each bag will last but initially these things are awesome. They don’t have a scent themselves. It just eliminates whatever is present. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to remove odors.

I've followed other reviews and tried leaving in sunlight to activate. These never really seemed to work on odor. They are ok to dry out wet shoes but balked up newspaper works better. I wouldn't buy again. Disappointed I was hoping they'd work better so I could avoid the odor eaters with heavy scents and chemicals

Bought these after seeing them reviewed on another website. Big mistake. They did nothing for my shoes. Baking soda was cheaper and worked better.

My son has the worst smelling soccer cleats ever. With soccer practice 2-3 times a week, games for another 2 days each week, and daily play with the neighbor boys, we needed a way to eliminate the odor. Washing them seemed to make everything worse. Then I read about these. We put them in his cleats inside a tied grocery bag, the next morning, the odor was gone (not just covered up). Now he leaves these bags in EVERY pair of his shoes... and no one has to brace that foul scent again!

Living in Florida, we get a lot of humidity and these bamboo based carbon charcoal help in absorbing humidity in my car, closet , garage and other damp places. And it also absorbs the funky smell of food I my car, and it’s easy to “reset” the whole product by leaving them out under the Florida Sun for 2hrs. I would recommend this for drivers who usually have food brought in to their car and running out daily under warm weather.
