Super quiet, pendulum works fine
Finally hung this thing after purchasing it months ago. It's really good quality! It is indeed Suuuper quiet, even in a totally silent room. Once the back is closed, I had to strain to hear it. Beautiful dark wood finish, looks rich. The pendulum up close looks like it's made of pretty cheap metal with a thin coat of pale gold paint, but from afar you can't tell. At first when I put the batteries in, the pendulum didn't swing, but after a couple minutes it started to pick up and was moving fine. I did not have the issue with it hitting the side walls as other reviewers commented. However, after awhile the pendulum constantly swinging in my periphery got annoying, so I took the battery out for that portion. Haha It functions separately from the clock. Only con I would say is it doesn't have a second hand. But that doesn't really bother me. Totally worth the buy!

Beautiful and sturdy.
Two main points here: 1. This clock is gorgeous and by far the most attractive one on here at its price point. As others mentioned, it IS definitely a dark brown color, so be advised before purchasing. 2. The pendulum does sway a little faster, BUT it hasn't banged around like others described. Maybe that has since been corrected since I bought mine. As far as set up goes, you basically pop a nail into the wall and hang it...super simple. The size is precisely what I anticipated. The quality is superior. Accuracy is only an issue if you don't take the time to adjust the hands prior to using. They were "off" and out of wack at first.

Great Value
Beautiful clock with a quiet ticking sound. I removed one star because the clock came in a color closer to black rather than the dark brown color pictured in the product images.

Nice looking clock; minor issue
The finish on the wood is darker than what I thought it would be. A couple of people mentioned that it is a dark brown but I think it is a dark, dark brown. Even so, it is very attractive. I was surprised that the clock did not come with batteries. I got the impression from reviews and comments on other models that it came with a set of inexpensive AA batteries. I think the description and the instructions should note that batteries are customer supplied. As a retired technical writer (I wrote instruction manuals), I think that the instructions need a little more information, including the mention of batteries. The back panel that allows access to the inside of the clock has an hole in it to allow you to stick your finger in it to remove it. Someone could easily mistake this hole to be used to hang the clock. I could see where if the panel was not installed correctly that the clock would fall from the hook in the wall. There are no instructions for the proper method of inserting the panel. At the top of the frame, is a sturdy wall hanging hook. Instructions should also recommend a wall anchor that is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the clock. Instructions should be written for the lowest common denominator audience. After I hung the clock and I eyed it so that it looked level and after the pendulum started swinging I left the room. A few minutes later I went back to check on how it was working and I heard a "ticking" which turned out to be the pendulum hitting one sidewall. I had a previous windup pendulum clock and it was critical that the clock hung perfectly level. I surmised that this was the problem so I used a level to ensure that the Verona clock is perfectly level. Now the pendulum swings without hitting the sidewalls. There should be an instruction on the operating instruction sheet that tells users about this. By the way, the pendulum swings exceptionally fast, not like what you would expect with pendulum clocks like the old-fashioned ones.

Great gift!
Before my husband passed away, he wanted to have a nice clock for each of our children. We had an heirloom clock from his mother's side of the family, and we had a nice grandmother's clock he had bought me a number of years ago. Those were for our daughters. But we had never gotten a clock for my son and his wife. I found this lovely clock and knew this would be the perfect gift for them from my late husband and me. The gift was received and very much appreciated! Perfect addition to their home! (They said they especially loved that it was quiet!)

Good design, poor execution.
Clock has a nice case and, on the surface, appears to be well made. Mine arrived with the pendulum arm bent/warped and the disk deeply dented. Most of this damage was probably due to poor packaging. I was able to take the pendulum apart and get rid of most of the warp in the arm and to reduce the dent in the disk to an acceptable level. With the clock assembled it kept excellent time but after operating for several minutes the pendulum started hitting the sides of the clock case and made an annoying click each time it hit. I made sure the clock was properly leveled but the problem continued to occur. I eventually glued an additional weight to the back of the pendulum and this solved the problem. I could have just returned it but fixing the problems was simpler.

It adds a touch of elegance to my living room. A very good bang for your buck. My main peeve is the back slab fell out multiple times while trying to assemble it.
