The Erhu (Chinese Erhu), sometimes known as in the West as the 'Chinese Violin' or Chinese two strings fiddle, is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, used as a solo instrument as well as in small ensembles and large orchestras. It consists of a long vertial stick-like neck, at the top of which are two large tuning pegs, and at the bottom is a small resonator body (sound box) which is covered with python skin on the front (playing) end. Two strings are attached from the pegs to the base, and a small loop of string placed around the neck and strings acting as a nut pulls the strings towards the skin, holding a small wooden bridge in place. Gift: free rosin, one pair of brand name strings, 2 high grade bridges, bow and fine tuners. We have put a python skin certification that will help you customs clearance. Review: Lower quality of snakeskin than pictured - I purchased this Erhu as the product image showed a snakeskin with a lot of yellow and clearly distinguished scales (apparently these are signs of a good quality snakeskin) but the snakeskin on my Erhu is much more brown and cloudy. I also never received spare strings as advertised. Only positive is that the item arrived much sooner than expected. Overall disappointing. Review: Erhu, I do - I have never played an Erhu before, nor any stringed instrument, so I can't comment on how this might compare to others on the market. I just fancied having a go. This little beauty was delivered exactly as advertised, in a nice little hard-case. Sellers were really helpful (remember there may be import duties to pay). It was much better build quality than I expected, and very easy to set-up (lots of videos online for this). My neighbours may not be so pleased, but I'm in love with my Erhu and this has been a winning purchase.
