Review: Absolutely brilliant - I absolutely love Justin and his guitar! His website is brilliant and has me playing songs when I had zero previous experience. He makes learning guitar fun and as simple as it can be with his various exercises, video lessons and books. This book is an awesome accompliment to his free online guitar lessons but also a great and handy book just on its own. There are several stages of songs which vary in difficulty and the number of chords used. There are lots of classic and modern songs with the chords written alongside the lyrics for easy playing and singing if you are that way inclined! There are also introductions at the beginning of each chapter as to the different chords and some instructions next to each song on how you can improve, I.e via strumming patterns etc. The book gives you good beginners knowledge, gives you the ability to perform songs confidently whilst also giving you the chance to go back to each song when you are more experienced to make it sound even better. Can not recommend enough Review: Excellent learning aid for beginners - Having searched online for good basic guitar lessons and easy songs I finally stumbled across the YouTube channel for justinguitar. Exactly what I needed. Justin provides step by step guides for beginners and more advanced guitarists to improve their guitar playing. As a total novice I found his videos an excellent starting point for making attempts at some of my favourite songs. I then discovered his book to accompany his YouTube videos. The book I think is excellent value. For under £16 you get a detailed breakdown of around 100 songs including guides for strumming patterns and advice from Justin. A great addition to the YouTube videos and using both makes learning much simpler. Book van be used on its own for practice and playing. The ring binding also makes keeping the book open at each song so easy compared with some other song books. Check out the song listing on his site. Plenty of well known classics and all are ordered in terms of difficulty giving you something to work towards. An excellent book and I will certainly order some of the others from his range. Highly recommended.

Best learning book I've been able to find.
This is a great book and has helped tremendously with my learning beginner guitar. Chapters are divided up such that you learn a few chords each time and can apply them to various popular songs. The author posts most song lessons on youtube, which helps pick up tips by seeing/hearing a song, rather than just reading the instructions. The songs get more complicated (naturally) as the lessons go on and it makes for a great, gradual way to learn. Would've been 5 stars but a few of the songs aren't available on youtube. It's a bit of a harsh critic given then hours of his work you can find online and easy usability of the book but it's something that bothered me a bit.

top notch for learning guitar
Justin is the man, been following him on you tube for a while now and so decided to buy his beginners songbook vol 1, straight away with the help of his you tube tutorials my guitar playing and practice has improved, I am once again looking forward to my practice everyday, the books are well set out with notes and chord diagrams for you to progress, the songs are progressive and you gradually improve as you go along, I also like the fact that this version of the book comes spiral bound great for laying open on your music stand, he only puts the chords into the first verse and chorus, after that you are on your own, some find this harder but you do get used to it, I've been really impressed with volume 1 that I have ordered volume 2 as well, well worth the cost and for less than the price of one private lesson, great value

Music To My Ears!
I have been 'playing' guitar for years on and off and I play the same things over and over again with mixed results. The book is the perfect size at A5 and it is spiral bound so very easy to view, unlike my other guitar tab books that constantly need a good bend to keep in place. There are plenty of great songs to learn and any strumming pattern or song I am not sure about is on his YouTube channel, so a great purchase. The songs can be played with simple chords or variations with finger picking or more complex strumming so wonderful for beginners and more intermediate players. One of the guitar books that will take pride of place unlike the others stacked up gathering dust. My favourites are Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, Fast Car by Tracey Chapman, Vincent by Don McLean, The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve and loads of the others. Well chuffed. Thank you.

Fantastic book!
This is the first beginners songbook I've found that can actually be understood by a beginner! The book is set out clearly and as well as all the lyrics and chords there are strumming patterns and tips for each song. Contains 100 songs from a wide variety of artists. Great as a stand alone songbook, even better when used with Justin's free online guitar course. This 2nd edition version is spiral bound so it stays open easily while you play. A must for all beginner guitar players and worth considering for any player who wants to widen the variety of what they play.

Songbook I've been waiting for
Alongside Justin's excellent on-line (and free) guitar course, this book has taken me further than any previous attempt at learning guitar. You'll get the best from it if you also plug into the course. The songs are all the sort of stuff you've always wanted to play; popular classics, and lots of them. Also, JS gives as much attention to the right hand as the left: correct strumming and timing makes or breaks a song, and I got my act together on both for the first time with JS's approach. He's not afraid to use the capo to transpose songs to keys that would otherwise be over-challenging for beginners. Likewise, the dreaded barre chords are absent at this stage, although some practice with 'F' is offered up in the later sections. Also, as JS is almost religious about accurate transcription, these are probably the most true-to-original versions of songs you'll find. For all its ease of use, this isn't a quick and easy or 'cheating' way to learn guitar; you'll still need to put in the practice time!

Awesome as a complete beginner
I bought the kindle version of this book. I was getting uninspired with doing guitar drills and wanted to have some recognisable songs to practice - this has fitted the bill perfectly. It's indexed in 8 stages, stage 1 includes approx 8x 2/3 chord songs that I recognise (including bob marley, johnny cash, elvis Presley etc) which sound genuine when I stumble through them. Justin provides capo tips to enable you to play along with the original recordings. The songs progress in complexity as you add further chords/rhythms to your repertoire. Wouldn't recommend the kindle version unless you're very pushed for space as the book is laid out with the song on the left hand page; rhythm and tips on the right hand page, so I have to scroll between the two on my kindle app to ensure I get all the info, I suspect the ring bound one would be the best. Great purchase, however you get your hands on it.

Ottimo Justin
Come sempre, bel libro, ben scritto e funzionale.
