Expensive but very interesting
Expensive but very interesting. Don't think I'll follow the whole cleanse as I agree with other reviewers it seems to be unrealistic not to eat until dinner time. I will however be trying the different varieties of Tea recommended at the times of day, to see how I get on and if they do have an impact, there were also some nice recipes for smoothies and food which I will also be giving a go. I would say that the principle behind the weight loss and the target market of the book seems to be Americans and/or people who only drink fizzy, bottled and restaurant / coffee shop drinks. So if you already don't drink all these things I'm not sure if you will see the weight loss she suggests but we'll see.

I lost 8 pounds on the plan in 7 days!
I was not a big tea drinker, but gave the plan a try because I wanted to lose some weight and kick my addiction to diet soda, which I had read makes you crave sweets even more and is full of nasty chemicals. In the past I found that drinking coffee all the time affected my sleep patterns, so I thought maybe tea would be better. It really was. I have never before been able to give up diet soda without massive headaches, but on this plan it was no big deal at all. I actually felt better and clearer mentally, rather than worse. I lost 8 pounds on the plan in 7 days, as part of the original test panel. I was never hungry or really craving specific junk foods, and I never got a headache. Most of the time I was occupied with preparing and drinking tea and the smoothies, so I didn't feel like I was waiting to eat something. The only problem I did experience was that I became a little bit dehydrated by about the third day. It takes me about half an hour to brew and drink a 10 oz cup of tea vs. about 5 minutes to open and guzzle a 20 oz diet coke, so my fluid consumption went down until I realized this and made an effort to drink more water. I don't have a blender at work, but I found that making the smoothies at home in the morning and carrying them in a big travel mug was pretty easy. I also don't really cook, so I was intimidated by the recipes, but I ended up just eating foods that followed the principles of the plan, like a broiled chicken breast and a salad or vegetable, rather than making the exact specific recipes. I was able to stick close enough to the plan to lose the weight without learning the specific recipes or even figuring out where to find the ingredients in the grocery store. This is a plan that anyone can follow, and assuming you have some weight to lose, you will lose it.

Don't bother - just another fad

Very interesting...time to put to the test.
Although the book is almost 200 pages, you really only have to read about 40 pages because the rest of the book is diet recipes and tea descriptions. The book overall is excellent, provides some great information. The teas described can be expensive, but not as expensive as medicine cost these days. I just ordered all my teas to do the 10 day cleanse and have packaged them for each day. I'm not over-weight, but I have to medical issues I hope these teas will help. The hard part is being able to drink 8 to 10 teas a day, especially at work where I'm always on the go. Remembering what tea does what is confusing, so I wrote with marker on each box exactly what it does and when I'm supposed to take it. This has and will help out because you don't want to have to stop and read each tea box description to find the right tea. The author doesn't look like she needs to lose and ounce of fat so I'm curious as to how it will do with some of my weight lose plan.
