This is a 6-foot cast net. The Cast net is well made but the height of the Cast net is 4 to 6 inches short so the diameter at a full circle is 8' to 8.4' in diameter. The six-foot cast net that I have been using for 7 or 8 years opens up to 10 feet full circle. Some of this might be due to the heavy use of my old 6' cast net stretching and some of this might be due to the stiffness of the new cast net. I have it now soaking in a fabric softener and that will help some. Even at that, with the 6-inch shortness of the net, there will be some less opening for the smaller diameter net. Expect that. However, for the price and the fact that it is well made and does not have true lead weights. They are sewn between them very well. It is a good purchase and should last one a number of years if you stay off the dead oyster shells.

I thought these were measure differently. I wanted an 8 foot diameter, but it was 8 foot radius. Meaning I now have a 16 foot cast net that is hard as hell to cast lol. It’s my fault, but keep that in mind. The quality of the product is what you’d expect. It’s very good and reliable.

Mesh is a lot tougher than the mono nets, but like other cheap nets, it is not tied together very well. Most knots are loose and some will come untied. The weights are held in place by flimsy string that will need to be repaired regularly. The brail line is loosely tied and the knots catch on the net easily. I had to re tie each line with a betting knot that won’t come untied and will not snag on the net everywhere. I also a second line tied around the bottom to secure the weights in place. (This net is actually advertised with this second line securing the weights, but does not come with it). The steel weights only have a thin zinc coating and start to rust quickly even if you rinse with fresh water after every use. With some small improvements, and a little care and maintenance, it’s a good reliable net.

The 4’ net is great for tight shallow areas (slow sinking in deep water). It is made with strong material and easy to throw flat.
