Still need to set it up though but have had a Berkey in the house before so nothing new. 1 Year Update: This spigot is highly handy to know your water level in the main tank. It has lasted wonderfully with no leakage or problems and it gets used multiple times per day. Meaning it has been used well over 1000 times and it still acts brand new. We are very happy that we chose to add this to our Berkey System. You should add one to yours too. You won't regret it! Spend money on the spigot save from having to check bothe containers before adding water. You do have to filled up bottom section and read spigot and then you will at what level is full..it does not fill as far up as you thing it would if you do keep adding water to top and it overefills on bottom water will work is way up top of spigot and start come in our the air vent hole. I will say when you cut it off after filling container it is drip free.

This glass spigot is a must have upgrade for the Berkey. It’s super helpful being able to see now how much water is in the bottom chamber. Before this, I was always guessing. And more than once before owning this glass spigot, I overfilled the top chamber and ended up with leaks. This solves that issue completely. Installation is quick and easy. The design is simple and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. My only minor complaint is the little adhesive tab at the top of the sight glass. It doesn’t stick very well to the stainless steel, so I find myself pushing it back into place occasionally. That said though, the spigot still stays firmly in place and works just fine even without that adhesive piece holding tight at the top. This is a great help for regular Berkey users or those with kids. You can stop guessing how full or empty the thing is!

Very useful for family that need to see how full the Berkey is. My kids still over fill it from time to time. But it’s well worth the extra money to have it.

The Berkey glass level spigot is very easy to install. I left a glass under the spigot on top of my trash can (the Berkey on the edge of the counter) the first time I filled it and it was bone dry the next morning. The instructions for installation were easy to follow and I took the time to give my Royal Berkey a cleaning while I had it opened up as well. There are two changes I've noticed the most with this spigot, #1 it is a little wider than the default one and doesn't fit so well into the Ikea glass litre bottles I fill to keep cold water in the fridge (the ones with the rubber stopped like a bottle of Grolsch). #2 perhaps because of this, it pours much faster and I've found you get higher flow much lower to empty than the previous spigot. This is a big bonus, filling up kettles, saucepans, coffee pots, bottles for drinking water, it is so much faster now. The water level varies in accuracy but really it's there to let you know when it's getting low, not whether it's 3/4 full or 7/8 full, so for this purpose it delivers in spades. I'm very happy with the glass spigot, primarily for the increased flow of water. The spigot seems well built and sturdy. To be honest most of the time I still fill up my Berkey once the flow is greatly reduced so that means it's almost empty. Sometimes I check the level to know when to fill it, but that being the primary reason I bought it I can't say I'm using that function of it very often. Still, the increased flow and to a far lesser extent the better aesthetic make this a 5-star easily recommendable purchase.

This works just fine, I re-used the rubber washers from the spigot I removed and installed. Only slightly negative thing (and might just be operator error) is it does twist if not careful. I was hesitant to crank down on the plastic screw and risk cracking it, so it may not be as solid as it should be and the reason it is twisting. It is nice to be able to see when it is time to re-fill my water jug since it does take some time to filter from the top one to the bottom one. An interesting side effect is this makes it rather easy to keep up with my water intake during the day-I mark where it is in the morning, then see how far it goes down during the day.

Ok i ordered this last month as every authorized dealer is out of stock. I was very hesitant at first cause I'm worried this is not genuine but i took the risk. Then i installed it and it works for a few days. Then after a while its starting to drip. So i was disappointed and return it right away. I went to look and buy from an authorized berkey seller. When it arrived and compared it to the one i got from amazon, its exactly the same! Even the washer from the authorized dealer is also flat!!!! It's exactly the same even the instructions and the manual! The only difference we did is that you have to rotate the glass from 9pm to 12am, you have to keep on repeating the 9 to 12 in order for the washer to get a tight sealed. Up to now, it hasn't leaked yet! If only i did the 9 to 12 on this one i got from amazon i wouldn't return it. So guys this is genuine FYI. You have to keep on turning from 9 to 12 until you get a feel of the tight seal on the washer.

Perfect fit for our 9 year old travel Berkey. Improved spigot. Very nice to see how much water is left in the unit. The travel Berkey is in our off grid bathroom for tooth brushing, mouth rinsing and drinking water. Very convenient.

When pouring out water, the water level in this sight glass can drop to zero level and once you shut off the spigot, the water level springs up into the sight glass. Still, at rest, this sight glass does let you know if there's still enough water in the tank or not. My friend has a Berkey tank too and says by the strength of the water being dispensed, you can already estimate if the tank is near empty or not. As such, there's no real need to pay for this sight glass spigot.
