Warming and flavorful Kitchari!
I decided to make a vata-calming diet and also a vata-supporting lifestyle for the next two weeks. I chose to purchase this product to simplify my meal preparations. This is the second portion that I prepared and I really like it. The kitchari is flavorful and not overpowering with spices. I soak my portion for a few hours and use a simple rice cooker. Before serving I add Ghee. It seems that I have generous three portions (I keep a part for dinner) or four regular portions like the label says. I will try more varieties of the company, but I think I made a good choice especially because it is October, fall has started, and goes very well with the start of cool weather. I recommend this Kitchari.

Instructions underestimate water needed, make sure to stir, really didn't need any added seasoning
***Don't be afraid to add more water as it cooks beyond the initial 4 cups the family pack originally calls for.*** The first time we cooked kitchari, the comparison we kept running into was "Indian risotto" and I've held on to that as my guide for how to prep and cook any kitchari we've made since. When I saw that Divya's Warming Kitchari, which boasts a "peppery" taste (it does not disappoint on that front), only said to start with a quart of water for a "family size" serving, I was a bit skeptical, but I figured, what the heck they know their own product. And they do, but in the way that, when the instructions anticipate their Kitchari might start sticking to the pan or dry out midway through because there wasn't enough water to begin with, you start adding water to keep up with how much is cooking off as you stir. But wait, the instructions don't tell you to constantly stir... No, but you do that with risotto to safeguard against it sticking to the pan, and the same is in fact required here. ***Keep stirring and adding a bit of water as needed to keep the consistency creamy and prevent sticking to the pan/pot*** The instructions on this set are a bit contradictory, but I found that constantly stirring and adding about a cup or two during the process to stop it from drying too much or sticking to the sauce pan all while keeping the consistency "creamy" and not "soupy" (as per the instructions' suggestion) resulted in a fantastic final product with a great texture and that "peppery" flavor it promised. It took a little improvisation, but the end result is some really good kitchari. Just don't expect to be able to put this on the stove and for it to be fine for the 20 minute cook time with no issue. You will need to add water and stir, so be vigilant. After that, enjoy! ***Overall Value*** We got a solid 4-5 servings out of our "family size" pack, and with veggies mixed in (as well as a little chicken) they were VERY hearty servings. We probably could have stretched it out to 6 or 7 but it was really good and we made it during a recent cold snap, so the warmth of the Kitchari and the heat of its flavor was like a nice comfort food blanket that we just wanted to indulge with more rather than less. For $11 (at the time of review), this pack was a pretty good value.

Warm and peppery is right -- Yum!
Divya's Warming Kitchari really does have a nice warming flavor. It has an interesting mix of spices. I can taste the cumin, turmeric and black pepper the most. It is nice and peppery, but doesn't taste too spicy to me. The texture has a fine grain to it but is also kinda creamy. While some may like to have this as part of a plant-based meal, I found it pairs really well with chicken. I shredded some baked chicken and added it in. Next time I will also try the variation that calls for adding a cup of diced vegetables to the first step. While I got the single serve 3 pack this time, I would get the family size next time. I'm the only person in my family who enjoys this flavor, but I still prefer to have leftovers when I cook. This makes a hearty single serve meal or could possibly be stretched to two or three portions if you are using it as a side dish or with other additions. I think it is a little time intensive for a single serve meal -- about 25-30 minutes. Although it says ready in 20 minutes on the front of the bag, you also have to boil the water and let it cool for 3-5 minutes. As another reviewer mentioned, I had to remember to keep checking it so that I could stir it and add water if needed. I wonder if it could be made in the microwave to speed it up, but those directions aren't given. I recommend this based on the taste, but just something to consider when choosing a size.

I got this for my son-in-law to make for easy lunches when he is home.
Divya's Warming Kitchari, Rich & Peppery, One-Pot Ayurvedic Meal with Grains, Lentils, & Spices, Healthy & Nourishing Plant-Based Meal, Vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Organic, Single Serving 3 Pack First impressions: Nice small meal pouches containing grains and spices. The smell is nice, a bit spicy. Installation/setup: Follow directions to cook. Be sure to check it’s not sticking and add more water if needed. Add veggies if you like. Final thoughts: I got this for my son-in-law to make for easy lunches when he is home. It smells really good while he is making it and he really likes the flavor. He pairs it with a ready to eat Indian pouch meal I got for him and he says it goes together really well. He likes it and I’m glad I got it. ⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

Delicious, healthy, and traditional
I love khichdi / kitchari, and this particular "Warming kitchari" is wonderful. Kitchari is one of the simplest and most convenient Indian dishes there is. It's basically an all-in-1 mix of rice, lentils, and spices and with this Divya ready-to-cook kitchari, making it couldn't be easier. Simply combine 2 cups of water and the entire contents of one (single serving bag in your pot and cook for 20 mins, and your kitchari is done. The flavor is really amazing. This kitchari is perfectly spiced, fragrant, creamy - and with enough heat and spiciness to really warm the body. And I love that it's not overly salty. I've had many Indian meal prep kits that are way too salty - but this is perfect for me and tastes and feels very healthy. The ingredients are great as well and completely natural. It's just (all organic) rice, lentils, quinoa, and spices. There are also some interesting spices in this like black cumin, abundant ginger, and thai green chili that give it a unique warming aspect. Overall - I'm really loving all of the Divya meal kits. If you like healthy and simple Indian meals, you will love this. It's so delicious and couldn't be any easier to prepare.

A bit bland
I love Indian food and especially curries. My expectations were high for this product, but it was kind of bland and without a burst of any kind of spices. I may try one of the others to see if those ramp up the flavor a bit.
