Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You 01 [Jinushi] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You 01 Review: This book gives me life. - A slow, mellow romantic manga about two adults who meet while smoking behind a supermarket. I like their friendship and the slow burn nature of the manga. The interaction between the amiable and anxious 40 year old Sasaki and the 24 year old Yamada is heart warming and occasionally makes me laugh. The first novel sets up the things to come up well. I only wish the rest of the chapters could be in print a bit sooner. It has a matte cover and is slightly thicker and shorter than my other manga, which almost makes it feel more like a print novel. I got it for myself on my 24th birthday and it’s easily my favorite piece of fiction ever. Review: This is my opinion - It’s a really good romance manga it may be slow at times but I think it’s a good buildup one Highly recommend

A heartfelt, grounded story with a main character who gives total Phinks‑from‑Hunter‑x‑Hunter vibes
This manga is such a pleasant surprise. The story focuses on small, everyday moments that slowly build into something meaningful, and the character interactions feel natural and genuine. There’s a quiet warmth to the pacing that makes it easy to get absorbed. Sasaki, especially, stands out — he has that same tired‑adult, quietly loyal, effortlessly cool energy that Phinks has in Hunter x Hunter. And honestly, he’s not bad looking either, which doesn’t hurt. The art matches the tone perfectly, and the whole thing is incredibly easy to sink into. If you enjoy character‑driven stories with gentle emotional pull, this is a fantastic read.

Goofy, improbable, surprisingly sweet
Sasaki is a middle-aged salaryman who is fixated on a friendly young cashier at his local supermarket named Yamada. He also spends his nights smoking behind that same supermarket with a bad girl named Tayama. And, in the way that Daily Planet employees can never figure out that Clark Kent is superman, Sasaki can't figure out that the two women he sees most often at this supermarket are the same person. This is an oddball manga for sure, and the main character reaches nuclear levels of density, but it's still a sweet story. It's also a super slow burn age gap romance (the two characters are almost twenty years apart in age). The age gap may bother some, but I have no issues with it. These are two adults, after all. At any rate, this manga was far better than I expected. Highly recommended.

So excited to have this in print
I absolutely loved reading this manga online. When I saw they were producing a printed version of it I had to jump on it right away and get a pre-order. Excited to have a physical copy to read now. Can’t wait for the next few volumes to come out! This is such a comfort-manga and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wholesome and silly/fun read.

Exceptional title
Some people think that ‘Manga’ is not a legitimate form of ‘art’ or ‘literary endeavor’…If you, yourself, think that, I recommend that you take a look at this series. The art, the story…makes me think of “film noir”, or Stanley Kubrick, or maybe David Lynch. Few Manga titles suggest literary comparisons, but this one does. For some reason, I have to compare this story to Dylan Thomas. Or, early James Joyce. It’s that good.. Feel free to disagree…but I still got your attention.

A calm and down to earth story that still manages to be funny to.
This story has become a quick favorite of mine for its chill story line, subtle humor, and amazing atmosphere. The relationships between the characters are fun to watch and very well handled. I could equally see a romance developing between the main characters as I could see them remaining platonic th entire story and I would personally be happy with either outcome. Can’t wait to see more of the story.

A quiet little treasure.
This manga doesn’t try to be big or dramatic, and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s just two people sharing small moments, but it feels warm, real, and unexpectedly touching. A cozy read I’ll be coming back to.

Never heard of this story before it got recommended to me in my feed during black friday, I was caught by the art and was intrigued to see what the story is about, first of all the manga is good, it’s detailed and the designs are amazing!, the characters are not plain or boring, the romance has a good pace and the manga itself is worth the price, I’ve actually compared it with other editions I got, and it has the equivalent to two regular volumes in just one tome, so yeah definitely worth the price and the overall story is worth a lot as well, definitely enjoyed the story and I’ll be getting the rest of the volumes to catch up

this manga is a great lighthearted read for anyone looking for a fun, adult-setting romcom wish amazon packed small books in appropriate sized envelopes (my envelope was 3 times the size of the book) and also that they came protected with plastic or bubble wrap... luckily this copy didn't come damaged but it has happened in the past and could be easily avoided... would be nice if publishers sold them with plastic wrap from the get-go like they do in japan.
