Sharp out the box, Real leather sheath
Sharp out the box! Great draw knife, perfect for my axe handle projects. Plus the leather sheath is a really nice touch!

Would buy again
Works amazing. I've been using it to strip pine logs that fell during hurricane Helene. That way some of the trees which broke or uprooted got some use other than just being chipped. And yes that is how they use the trees that come down during these storms. I made a raised garden out of a few and this helped me stripped the bark off without much problem. Although I do recommend if you're stripping pine bark wait for a month for the tar to settle otherwise you're not really getting all that bark off. Once I waited a month, I got everything debarked easily and quickly. I love the leather case that goes over the blade since it stops any accidental cutting when not using it or during storage it protects the blade to some degree. It's not going to keep the blade from rusting but it does allow you to carry it without concern for cutting yourself. And that's why I bought this particular one. I've used it now for two 10 ft, two 4 ft and seven 2 ft. I plan to continue to use it on the two feet as I am making them into benches for my fire pit (punishment for the tree that fell on the house because now they will have butts sitting on them), lol. I don't know how it compares to others on here because this was the first one I tried. The quality is very good, the blade is thick and so is the leather cover. I was very happy with what I received for the price. It's easy to use and easy to control because the handles fit your hands very well and feels substantial.

Could be better
You get what you pay for. Unfortunately inflation means you pay a lot for not very much. This a rectangle flat bar (1inx.25in) with .25 rods welded on for handle tangs. The welds are ground flat the. The whole weldment is painted with an epoxy paint with silver flecks to make it look seamless. Factory edge is steep but sharp. Beveled on both sides, (down ward face is not flat). Ground faces are oiled to prevent corrosion in sulifane packaging. I intend to regrind a shallower angle on the upward bevel when it needs to be resharpened. The included guard did not fit the blade. It was too short. I had to compromise the foam on the ends to make it fit. Feels like pleather, not real leather. Cut edges were not straight. Sewing is sufficient. Handles are good length, but finish a little rough. Wood is light, maybe pine with clear varnish. Overall, construction is found wanting, but it works. Durability is to be seen.

Great draw knife!
Very well made. The blade and the rounded steel handles are forged from one piece making the tool very strong. Also the hardwood handles are very sure in my hands. The blade also appears to be forge hardened and holds an edge.

Ok for the price
It is very prone to rusting. The metal seems a bit soft, and it does not keep an edge for long. But a fully useable tool with comfortable handles.

Worth the money, and nice having the leather scabbard.
Works well for debarking white spruce, which is all I’ve used it on so far. It’s obviously not a high-end, German or English hand made tool or anything of that nature, but it’s fine for the price. When the time comes, it should be easy to hone with a flap disc on an angle grinder. Good enough for peeling bark. I’m sure it could be sharpened even better if you wanted to use it for more of spokeshave type work, but if I were doing a lot of that, I’d just get a spokeshave. Having the scabbard included was a nice bonus.

It is a Draw Knife.
Seems to work really well. I had to laugh when the instructions say "Always cut away from your body..." A bit difficult when it's a draw knife and not a push knife.

Expensive
Far too expensive for the quality you get

Good once reworked, but terrible as sold
Very low quality grind on the blade edge - needs to be thoroughly reworked before use.
