I have recently been adopted by a stray cat, definitely an outdoors type who has been sleeping rough for a long time now, but I couldn't bear to watch him emerging from the bushes soaked and cold in the mornings to be fed, so I bit the bullet and ordered this kennel after reading positive reviews about it. I am so pleased I did! Its very sturdy and cleverly designed and it didn't take him long to get the idea that its a snug and warm place to sleep in, and he's been inside practically ever since. The self heating pad is great but I have put a small padded cushion inside first with the pad on top to make it a bit cosier. Definitely five stars all round. *update* October 2020 The box is on a slight slope and I have had to drill two extra vent holes at the front bottom of the box to drain condensation etc. The cat still loves it and is reluctant to come out, unless it's for food.

When this arrived I was so happy for my cat who always insists on staying out in all weather and would rather sleep beneath the canopy of the trees than in the comfort of indoors. For three days I kept trying to coax him into the kennel, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Then on the third day when I decided to return it, I went outside and he was sleeping in it! Finally! He loves it in there, unfortunately, he doesn’t understand that it’s water proof and when it rains the rain drops falling on the kennel probably make a right racket on the plastic exterior as he runs out the kennel to hide under the trees! (Bless him) I bought this as a bundle with a “self heating mat” which essentially is a double sided fleece-like material which is zipped and inside is a piece of soft aluminium pad which looks a bit like one of those “space blankets” In 100% happy so is the cat one star short of five because I thought it was a little over priced for what is essentially a plastic box.

A worthwhile purchase. Some years ago I bought a similar but slightly smaller cat kennel, and though it does the job adequately I have always felt that the entrance could have done with being more recessed. I believe this model is the answer. It's longer front to back than the old kennel - one of the images helpfully shows the dimensions - and the entrance is set back further, giving a better overhang from the roof and protection from driving rain. One of my semi-ferals took to it immediately after I'd put in the Ancol self-heating pad, plus some generous handfuls of straw bedding (NOT hay). From the way she tucked herself in at the back of the kennel, it's pretty clear it will take another cat, possibly two, if they all agree to get on well together. My cats are outdoor 24/7 (their choice not mine!) and two of them would happily forget their differences and bundle up together in the older kennel during cold weather, so three seems just about possible in this new one. There are drainage holes in the bottom, which makes washing and drying the kennel easy, and if sited carefully bearing in mind prevailing wind directions, like using walls or evergreen shrubs for additional protection from the elements, the cat kennel stays dry. Even so, it might be a worthwhile precaution to raise it up a bit on bricks (one to each corner will do) to help prevent any damp from the ground seeping in through those holes. I don't lament the lack of a cat flap. I can stuff in straw and pads and leave the cats to re-arrange it all without worrying that their nests might obstruct the flap.

I bought this for a local cat who loves to sit in my front garden but was looking sad and cold during recent weather. It’s not the cheapest however it is good and solid and hasn’t blown away either in strong winds. I put a blanket inside for the cat to lay on and it’s still dry due to the design. I’d definitely recommend this if you are unsure if whether you should order it or not!

I bought this to help a feral cat find some shelter. She loves it! I put it on top of some polystyrene for extra insulation off the floor and she went in it immediately. I'm happy that she has a cosy home thanks for the fleece blanket and our feral is now enjoying warmth and safety.

Bought for a semi feral cat living in our garden. We have kitted out a dog kennel, and a chicken coup as cat residences but our cats have taken them when they go outside. So poor mite was without a warm habitat to take refuge at night. I researched lots of cat housing. Was a bit concerned she wouldn’t fit into the opening as her fur is matted. We placed it away from the others in-between two barrels. Put straw in. Showed it to her and hoped for the best. Well she is using it, hooray! It was worth it. It’s robust. It’s exactly what she needed. I am much happier now I know she can be warm and safe. Quick next day delivery as we have prime. Win, win all round! Best decision to get this. It’s perfect!
