Can this heater be used in a bathroom?

Yes. That is where I use the heater. My bathroom is 10X12 feet in size. Safety first! Do not place heater where it could fall into water.

Is this heater safe to set on carpeting?

Yes, the lower part of the heater doesn’t get hot.

Can the 24-hour auto turnoff be disabled?

You have to start it. It has several hours for turning it off. So it's not an automatic thing, you have to program it..

how many sq ft does this heater heat up too?

Depends upon several factors; how many degrees do you want to increase the temperature (example, from 60 to 65, so 5 degrees)? And how patient are you (can you turn the heater on 30-40 minutes in advance of using the room, or do you want to warm the room rapidly)? I'm using it in a 12x15 bedroom at night so that I don't need to heat 4 rooms on the same zone/thermostat, and I can easily turn it on 30 minutes before bedtime. The heater is quiet and effective for this purpose but it doesn't move enough air to be the primary or only heater - in an unheated garage for example
