My cat has to be knocked out at the vets to dress wound and im trying to find a product that may help him relax...will this work?

No, this product will not help a cat, that is so highly strung at the vet's that he/she has to be knocked out. It (only) has a mildly sedating/calming effect, and so may help make the journey to and from a little easier on the cat, but the cat will remain fully alert.Feliway helps a cat feel more "at home" and at ease, as it replicates the secretion/oil from cats' sebaceous glands on their cheeks, and so makes the cat experience the immediate surroundings as more familiar and friendly.If you think KalmAid would help your cat with the overall experience of going to the vet's, and he/she still needs to be knocked out by the vet, then I'd definitely first check with the vet, whether KalmAid can be safely used in conjunction with the vet's medication.Best of luck!

Hello Paula.L-tryptophan is an amino acid, and it works by increasing seretonin ("feel good") levels. My vet says that it is a "natural" alternative to more conventional treatments, but whatever you might consume, which alters your state of mind, could be said not to be natural, I guess. After having tried a number of other products, including Zylkene, I have found Kalmaid the best product for one of my cats. In contrast to pet owners, who use this product periodically, for example if moving or at the time of Guy Forks night, I use it as a permanent, daily treatment. Yoda has a temperament that makes him easily affected by just about any challenge in life; from bad weather to visiting cats outside. Although he is still quite a young cat, he is also quite badly affected by arthritis and is on medication for that too. He is allergic to ticks and gets huge, swollen sores, should one get hold. Yoda really does have his challenges in life. When he is stressed, he makes life difficult for the other four cats in our home. He dominates them, for example by guarding the cat flap, and he beats them up. Therefore, Yoda is on 1/2 Kalmaid tablet EVERY day. It definitely helps to stabilise his mood, and helps to make both him and his "family" happier and more relaxed. He remains alert and active in every aspect of his catty life. My mum has used Kalmaid Gel for her cat, who, after having moved to a new house, at night kept returning to the area, where he used to live, and then not coming back. She decided to keep him in at night, and that stressed Lucky out. With Kalmaid, given over some 3 weeks, he settled more easily in the evenings.
