Like it Better Than Wax!
I just got braces and my ortho gave me a sample container of this silicone, as well as a container of the similarly looking wax strips. After trying both, I like this one a billion times better. They both work well for protecting vulnerable, sore areas, but here are the differences: Wax: The wax is easier to get on, and teeth/braces do not need to be so dry for it to stick. But that's the only benefit in my opinion, as getting it off is a pain. You need to dig it out with a toothpick because it likes to break apart into pieces. Plus it can melt with hot liquids. Silicone: It harder to get on because the teeth and braces need to be pretty dry. I just use a piece of paper towel or a Q-tip to dry the area first (I make sure the q-tip doesn't leave fuzz in my brackets). But the awesome thing is that once the silicone is on, it stays really well. You can even eat with it on. When it's time to take it off, it comes off all in one piece very cleanly. And if you have it on several brackets with the silicone touching each other, it'll come off in one clean 'bracket-shaped' strip. The price for these nine packs is great as well. I don't worry about using it whenever I need it, because I know I have plenty.

Found a method that works for me
As an adult, I'm wearing braces for a second time. If you're wearing them for the first time, wear your retainer! The lower permanent one came out after having it in 15 years and I thought I'd be fine. Nope! I don't remember having much of an issue with the brackets irritating my cheeks as a kid, but I decided to buy Orthosil just in case. I am so glad I did! I opted for the ceramic brackets on top and they're a little bigger than the metal brackets. On about the third day wearing the new braces I started to feel my cheeks get a little irritated. I have tried all of the methods mentioned in the top few reviews and I had problems with each. Mainly, if I placed the Orthosil on top of the brackets, it felt like it was putting too much pressure on my gums. Rolling and sticking didn't seem to work either, it seemed uneven and looked a little weird. Teeth dry definitely works better than wet, but it's hard to get them dry in the back and it's all of the brackets that are bothering me right now. Here is what I've found to work best for me. I take one strip of the Orthosil. Using my clean fingernail, I cut it in half. Then on each half I just flatten it out so it's a little wider and thinner. Then with the back teeth as dry as I can manage, I wrap it around the back of the last bracket (I have a little wire sticking out I need to have clipped) then start pushing it onto the front of the brackets and molding it over the arch wire. It ends about perfectly in the middle of my front teeth and then I repeat on the other side. Everything is perfectly covered and is clear enough that it's barely noticeable. It will even stay on while I eat and won't melt with warm liquids like wax will. I would definitely recommend Orthosil over wax any day!

Infinitely better than wax! So glad to have found this product!
I purchased this silicone after fumbling with dental wax and hating it. I am an adult doing invisalign. I had braces as a child, but here we are again. Anyways- I have no problem making this silicone stick...yes, sometimes it sticks to my finger or won't initially stick to my aligner, but it is no more difficult than dental wax to apply and infinitely better. It's easy to use a small about on sharp areas and "smooth" it out so it's protecting your cheek/tongue but also not bulky. I also find it to be much more clear than wax, so if I need to apply to the front of my teeth, it is not very visible, if at all.. You get a ton of product for the price, and I couldn't be more thankful I found it. I often apply it to my aligner while it is out of my mouth...pop the aligner in, and adjust as necessary. I've found this to be easiest and to get me the best results.

Terrible product
This product doesnโt deserve even one star! I went with the positive reviews and ordered this in hopes to protects my mouth from the braces wounds, and ended up with more tongue sores and bleeding lips within a few hours of wearing this, I donโt know what the heck itโs made out of, but it irritated my skin so bad. Putting this on is a nightmare, the product doesnโt adhere and crumbles worse than any wax! And beware, you canโt return this. Thankful for Amazon standing behind their customers and refunding me regardless.

What shows up has varied over time 2022/2023
I ordered these in fall of 2022 and, like the reviewer from January 2023, what was sent was Brace-Gard Squares (in the blue box with the clear lid). Meanwhile, as of Feb 2023, the Amazon listing for Brace Gard Squares will actually send you what is pictured here (the strips, in the sparkly colored boxes). I actually like the Brace-Gard Squares way better (they are squishy enough to lie flatter against your teeth, though I could see some people might find them too thin), so I will try ordering these again. Will I receive Brace-Gard squares again? We shall see! Update March 2023: What came was actually something entirely different, nice soft narrow strips, soft like the Brace-Gard Squares material, not stiff like the strips with sparkles in them. They are quite nice! Expensive, but I would buy these again.

Buy them. They are far better than wax.
This product has saved me from so much pain. If you understand how to use this you will be happy. Wax sticks okay but it doesnโt stay in place and it mixes in with your food (gross) and crumbles and gets swallowed. Brush your teeth then open mouth and breathe in and out a little to dry your teeth then push this silicone around those braces where wire is poking out. I smoosh it around the entire brace to lock it in place. Use a generous amount. It will last all day! I also found that it provides a barrier between your teeth and foreign items such as food. Removal is easy and it all comes out in one piece. Wax never again for me. I just ordered more!

The best stuff ever
I recently got Incognito lingual braces, and to say that they're uncomfortable is an understatement. They're fairly miserable, especially in the first two weeks. My orthodontist gave me a few cases of Orthosil, along with the regular old school wax. The difference is incredible. Regular wax - must be removed for eating or drinking anything warm. Crumbles in your mouth constantly. Doesn't stay put. Orthosil - does not melt, even if left in while drinking hot tea. Doesn't crumble at all. Stays exactly where you put it, especially once you get the hang of it. (Pro tip: get your teeth and whatever appliance REALLY DRY before trying to stick on the Orthosil. If your fingers keep sticking to it while you're trying to get it to stay put, lick your fingers, or get them wet with water.) This stuff is seriously Heaven-sent, and I won't be without it during my two year treatment.

Great but too pricey
This item is actually very good if you don't have to use a lot. The problem with mine is I have braces that are designed for underbites and I have brackets that wires are attached to on the roof of my mouth. This is so they can pull my bottom jaw back and push my top jaw forward to where they should be. These two brackets irritate my tongue. The problem I have with these are the strips are too thin so I have to use one whole strip a day, half for each bracket. With the nine I bought, to try out, this will last me approximately 54 days. However, with wax, each stick will last me for three days since the sticks are thicker so I use less. I didn't have any problems with applying them in as they are pretty easy. They problem is with the cost. I paid roughly $15 for these set of nine, this includes shipping. For $15 I can get enough wax to last me for approximately 224 days as opposed to just 54 days. They have a slick and slimey feeling which I don't mind. Wax doesn't feel quite as slick or slimey which I like better. If you don't mind the price then these are pretty good. Wax is easier to put on as your hands or wax don't have to be dry to apply. I bought these so I can drink coffee since wax tends to melt if you're not careful. However, once you get use to it, you can drink coffee and avoid the wax. Anyway, good product but too expensive. I'll use mine up and go back to wax.
